We've only heard this in bits and pieces in the anime. It's fantastic and absolutely worth a listen on its own.

I've decided to change up how I post these for the main party, as their chapters come with far more lore than those of side-characters. I initially intended to just leave out characters whose chapters would spoil something, but that has meant delaying some characters by a lot, Marcille and Falin in particular. That's a shame, as there's much more to their chapters than the parts that mention some spoiler.

So, instead, each week, I'm now going to post and pin another "expanded" character sheet, with any sections that spoil something blocked off. I've blocked off entire sections, as context would otherwise allow you guys to make conclusions :D

The latest "Expanded" World Guide post one will always be pinned, and I'm going to start updating/re-posting them as new sections become readable without spoiling something you anime watchers have not gotten to yet.

This is the first World Guide chapter on one of the retainers I am now posting. Maizuru's chapter would technically have been before Hien, but it mentions some stuff that's going to happen within the next few episodes, so can't post it yet.

However, the comic here again mentions the obsession that Shuro's father has with Maizuru, that Shuro's World Guide chapter also did.

It's not described negatively, but Maizuru also doesn't quite show a positive attitude for "that idiot" in the comic of Shuro's chapter. Hien as well, even if she does have feelings for Shuro, is clearly prepared for a possibility in her life that as retainer, property of Shuro, she wouldn't be allowed to have a choice in.

You'll also notice that the retainer all have "real" names. The names they go by are ones given to them by the Nakamotos. They are not allowed to keep their birth names.

Now that the latest episode revealed Falins... uuuhhh... state. I can FINALLY POST SOME STUFF I'VE BEEN DESPERATELY HOLDING BACK!!!

Dungeon Meshi is a well liked manga, and an adaptation by Studio Trigger is now airing. If you haven’t picked this one up, consider joining us. Both for fun and as a way of contributing to activity on Lemmy.

Laios' party finally runs into Shuro and his retainers! And along with them, Kabru and his mini-cult.

We learn about of the smallest creatures in the dungeon, and we finally get to know some of the girls that Shuro is dragging around.

One of them has very good hearing.

Remember not to spoil anything if you’re a manga reader, but feel free to elaborate on tidbits of lore that may not be coming through in the adaptation.

These were apparently originally published by Ryoko Kui herself, online and for free on her own website. Note that these artbooks will contain some mild spoilers for stuff that has not yet been adapted in the Anime.

It's a classic episode! With the gang just running around finding stuff to eat! Except things get way closer to going wrong each time, now.

The gang is now far deeper in the dungeon, in much more dire conditions.

This time around they run into some sexy-looking plants, and they deal with a Cockatrice! Marcille ends up taking one for the team.

However, this episode still continues the high concentration of lore that the series has now worked up to. Marcille teaches Lios magic, tells us more about the forbidden kind, and we get to witness the dungeon itself take a breath as it transforms right before the eyes of our quartet.

Remember not to spoil anything if you’re a manga reader, but feel free to elaborate on tidbits of lore that may not be coming through in the adaptation.
