List of Team-Specific Communities:

TroubleshootingIf a community appears as a 404 page when you click it, it likely means that the community is being hosted outside of the instance you are currently using and that nobody in your instance has viewed or interacted with that specific community yet. In order to address this, you will need to copy-paste the specific handle for the community (for example, [email protected]) into your searchbar so that your instance can "learn" that it exists, after which the community should display via linked URLs without issue. Hopefully this is addressed by the lemmy devs and streamlined in the near future.

A Saskatchewan hockey referee is gaining widespread attention after posting a video on social media telling coaches and parents to “do better.”

Dave Kadun recently took to Instagram, calling on the hockey community to think twice before yelling — or swearing — at a young official.

“Think about what you’re doing when you’re yelling at a 12 or 13-year-old kid,” Kadun said in his video, which has garnered 1.5 million views.

“You’re killing them inside.”

Casual hockey fan here, mostly a Red Wings fan. I've been failing to find a stat that shows how many power play goals are scored for each player who gets a penalty. My thought is, if your team is scored against while you're in the box, your team needs you and it was a costly penalty. Conversely, if your team is not scored against while you were in the box, they can play without you just fine, so go ahead and take a penalty.

Does this metric not exist? There's stats for power play goals scored, of course, and each team's penalty kill ratio, but I want to know whose team can most and least effectively kill the penalty per penalized player.

EDIT: I'm also curious about "retributive power play goals" For example, player A gets tripped by player B, and player A then scores on the power play.

While seeing a good scrap at a men’s league game might not be all that out of the ordinary, this one had some history behind it.

The two combatants who dropped the gloves during a men’s league game in Saskatchewan just happened to be father and son.

Father Chris Ewen of the Langham Vikings and Tyler Driedger of the Perdue Pirates squared off during the third period of a “fan appreciation night” that will not soon be forgotten by those in attendance.

Ewen and Driedger didn’t appear to hold back, either. Both men looked to be throwing some bombs at each other. After a wild 10 seconds or so, Ewen takes Driedger to the ice and the refs quickly step in.

Wow. That's all I can say. Check out the stats on Vaakanainen at the bottom of the article - he has 1 point in 5 games this season, and is currently on the IR. Overall he has 25 points - 1 goal, 24 assists - in 141 regular season games.

They traded the captain for a guy on the IR and a pick.

Suppose you have a friend that likes a team you dislike. What jersey could you get them that would piss them off the most?

Eg: I have a Canucks fan as a friend -- if I got them a nice Canucks Jersey with a Messier 11 plate on it...

The Utah Hockey Club got the full Toronto experience Sunday night ahead of their first-ever matchup against the Maple Leafs—bumper-to-bumper traffic that forced the team to walk to the game.

“I think that’s a first for everyone. Never saw that before,” Utah defenceman Maveric Lamoureux tells the camera that documented the team’s stroll to Scotiabank Arena.

Lamoureux said the team’s bus was “not moving at all” in the Sunday evening traffic, just hours after the Santa Claus Parade and resulting road closures.

“So it’s pretty much the whole team walking the street,” he said, noting that they would probably miss their 5:15 p.m. pre-game meeting.

The Pittsburgh Penguins are struggling mightily this season. Sitting at the bottom of the Metropolitan Division with a dismal 7-11-4 record and a minus 29 goal differential, changes are likely on the horizon. One name unexpectedly swirling in the NHL trade rumor mill is Penguins captain Sidney Crosby.

Could “Sid the Kid” actually waive his no-movement clause to chase one last Stanley Cup with a contender? It’s not as far-fetched as it sounds. While Crosby remains a highly productive player, the Penguins’ championship window appears to have slammed shut.

Its been a pretty fun start to the season. Just really don't want the streak to end to the Leafs, but I'm kinda expecting it.
