I have a late model LG OLED TV hardwired to the internet and connected to a Denon S760H via the ARC pass though connection. My sound system is configured as 5.1.2. Am I losing Dolby Atmos sound quality by going through the TV vs a Roku or Nvidia box?

Hello, I'm looking for a new AVR to fit inside my entertainment cabinet. I think the max I can fit would be 15x20 inches(height isn't an issue I don't believe). I don't need more than 5.1(speakers are already in and I'll never be able to add more). I would like 4k to go with my new TV with support for a PS5 at 120hz if I ever get one. Thanks in advance.

Would it be possible to just connect the pins of an HDMI connector to wires on an RJ45 port and then do the inverse for the TV in my living room? Over long distances I would expect the signal to degrade, but I imagine that's fixable one way or another, right? Given how little information I've managed to find on this, I'm guessing it might not be something you can just make yourself, but I also haven't found many reasons for why it wouldn't be possible. My use case is that I want to be able to play games at 4k120 from a PC a few rooms away. The cable would probably need to be 15m or so long.

I have a Yamaha RX-A4A and it has two “front presence” channels. Can those be used for atmos? It’s not clear from the manual.

I'm in the UK, and I currently have an old Onkyo TX-SR503E and some Samsung HT-E5530 tall boy speakers. It's all set up in a square room. I like my 5.1 Blu Ray albums (Kudos to Steven Wilson) and we play alot of games and stream alot of TV/movies from the PS5 and Steam Deck, but with the old receiver (with no HDMI ports, everything's optical cable) it's going into the TV and out into the receiver, which I've read you lose something with that. Mainly want to upgrade because one of the speakers is broken and everything feels outdated. I like Onkyo, when it comes to the receiver, but I've heard they've gone out of business, I've no clue with speakers. Open to suggestions. Any help appreciated, thank you. Budget of less than £400

I have a formovie UST projector that I'm using with a 120" spectra vantage ALR/CLR screen. Previously, I had been using a $50 fabric screen I bought off Amazon. I had stretched the fabric pretty tightly, and came out with a screen with ~142" diagonal. The quality of the vantage is much better, but I'm missing the size from my cheap screen. I have the size for a 140" screen.

I know Spectra makes one, but apparently the screen is spliced together, and you can see a seem from where the two have been sewn together. Does anyone have experience with that specific screen/can tell me whether the seem is noticeable or not? Otherwise, do you all have any other recommendations on a 140" screen? I've budgeted for this, and can spend an amount comparable to the 140" Spectra ($4,000). Thanks,

I guess I didn't do enough research. I picked up a Marantz NR1510 slim line as I got a really good deal. The plan was to use the front pre-outs into my Emotiva A-300 to run my focal Aria 926s and have the Marantz power the centre.

However, there is no DC out on the AVR so I cannot use my trigger cable.

Is there a way to get around this so my power amp turns on/off at the same time with my Marantz?

Hi, after getting some good IEMs, I am not really happy about the current HT situation which is the following:

  • AVR "Denon X2700H"

-Teufel Ultima 40 5.1 ( )

-Front L/R "UL 40 Mk3 18"

-Center "UL 40 C Mk3 18"

-Surround L/R "UL 20 Mk3 18"

-Sub "T 10"

My room is 3,6m wide and 4,4m so about 16m² deep while I am sitting 2,5m away from TV.

I am thinking about upgrading Front L/R and Center with either one of the following

Budget 2k

Front L/R

-KEF Q550

-ELAC Debut 2.0 B6.2

-ELAC Debut 2.0 F6.2

Center

-KEF Q250C

-KEF Q550C

-ELAC Debut 2.0 C6.2

If u got any other recommendations pls comment

So I have this Pioneer SC-67 that was given to me as a gift many years ago and has been driving my rather humble AV setup since then. I haven't been anything close to an audiophile or even what I'd consider an enthusiast beyond enjoying a good audio experience for movies and music.

A week ago, the receiver stopped outputting audio and now gives a UE22 error. Everything I've read suggests that this is effectively a death sentence for the receiver.

I'd like very much if it weren't dead as it has been a wonderful piece of equipment for me. However if I do need to replace it what would people suggest as a reasonable replacement. Should I stick to a class D amp?

When I got my setup done, 5.1.2, I ran Audyssey without the app.

Then I made Manual changes.

Now I just ran Audyssey with the app.

I am not sure if the system is now using the App calibration, or prior my calibration and adjustments. How can I tell?

I ask because when I am watching something and I use the remote and go into the options it still just shows the old settings I had prior to running Audyssey thru the app today.

Thank you!

I’ve narrowed my choices to these 3..

  1. Kef Ci4100QL-THX

  2. Revel W553L

  3. Elac IW-DC51-W

The Elacs are the cheapest but they have a back box..(if that matters). Which ones would you guys recommend? Or am I missing ones that may be better. I don’t want to spend more than $5-600 each. Thanks! I’m new to this and learning. Appreciate all recommendations. :)

I also considered the Elac Muro which are wall mounted but they are slimline and only around 3” in depth. Not sure if they sound as good as the 3 in walls I mentioned. Anyone know? I don’t want big bulky speakers hanging off the wall.

Current 5.1 setup:

  1. Paradigm CC-190 center
  2. Paradigm Mini L/R channels
  3. Paradigm Atom surrounds
  4. Paradigm DPS-3100 V2 subwoofer ()
  5. Marantz SR6004 AVR
  6. Room: 300 square feet area with 9 feet ceiling and two doorless entrances

Main usage:

  • movies
  • gaming on Xbox

Location: Canada

In my previous post, I asked about the upgrade with the biggest value for my setup/usage and the best answer was about "upgrade subwoofer".

Unfortunately in Canada, we don't have free shipping and return for subwoofers except SVS. As a result, I have a few options:

  • SVS PB-2000 ~2100 CAD all in (right now SOLD OUT) free return
  • SVS SB-2000 ~1700 CAD all in free return
  • SVS PB-100 ~1500 CAD all in free return
  • Paradigm Defiance X12 ~2000 CAD probably free return
  • RSL Speedwoofer 12S ~1300 CAD 200 CAD return
  • Maybe a few other online US manufacturers that able to ship to Canada

From this list, the RSL subwoofer seems the best value for the money (the 900 CAD difference with PB-2000 is overwhelming). But I have one important question to answer - is it noticeable and meaningful improvement at all? My existing DSP-3100 with 24 Hz frequency (actually there are no real measures on the internet to be sure about his number, therefore could be higher, let's say 28 or 32 Hz) and 200 watts RMS seem shy compared to 16-20 Hz frequency in PB-2000/12S/Defiance X12 with ~500 watts RMS, but I don't even know what to expect and how better the sound would be, and would it be worth 1300 CAD (or at least 1100 CAD if I sold DSP-3100)

I have a few options:

  • wait till PB-2000 is in stock, order and try it, then return and decide about RSL 12S or no new subwoofer at all
  • order PB-1000 or SB-2000 and try it, then return and decide about RSL 12S or no new subwoofer at all
  • Just order RSL 12S and hope for the best

I need advice on these options and, ideally, real-life experience with similar upgrades for the same usage (pay attention - no music listening). Or, maybe, some new option to consider.

P.S. I don't like to use SVS as a "free try" with the initial intention to return it disregarding the results, but I will do it if no better option is available.

Hi - I just pickup up an AVR-X1700H and was hoping to check to see if my HDMI cables are up to snuff. I've found a few Denon PDF files with instructions on accessing HDMI diagnostics for 2017 - 2020 models but not one for 2021 models.... does one exist and does the X1700H have this capability built in?

I killed my AVR and I need to buy a replacement unit. I currently have a wired 5.1 setup and two outdoor speakers that have never been loud enough. Our living room is open to the kitchen, the whole area is about 20x24 with sloped drywall ceilings and a lot of windows.

Must have: 7.2 4k minimum eArc/CEC Phono preamp AirPlay II Good room correction

I’m between the S960h, s760h and Nr696. Which of those would you recommend or should I be looking elsewhere?

So I’m designing a theatre setup for my family room and unfortunately, due to the room shape, I can’t have ear level surrounds or rears. Will having a nice set of towers up front and then 4 height channels for the surrounds/rears work ok? Or do I need to go back to the drawing board?

I have some parts tentatively identified but don’t want to go too far if this wouldn’t be a viable setup. Once I get this answered I’ll probably follow up with pictures and parts lists.

TIA!

I do see A Quiet Place recommended sometimes, but it doesn't seem to rate up there with the usual suspects. I watched it the other night and was completely blown away! There are some very transient low end effects which will test your subs (and transducers if you have them). I just about leapt out of my seat at the first big thwack! Then the Atmos mix - holy cow! If you want to test your top speakers then be prepared for a treat when things are walking around upstairs! And then at the high end, the scenes where the hearing aid causes feedback: freaking ouch! my folded motion tweeters brought the pain.

This might have gone to the top of my demo list for showing off my audio. Does anyone else rate this way up there with the best of them?
