The odour control upgrades, part of the French Creek Pollution Control Centre: Expansion and Odour Control Upgrades project, will begin in 2026 and be operational in spring 2027

Sea levels are projected to rise by half a metre by 2050, increasing both the frequency and severity of flooding. By century’s end, the ocean could rise as much as 1.3 metres — enough to submerge entire neighbourhoods.

Other high-risk communities include Courtenay, Campbell River, Parksville, Sidney, Qualicum Beach, North Saanich, and Victoria’s Inner Harbour.

This popular community event, following a large turnout at the January event, will take place at St. Stephen’s United Church hall, located at 150 Village Way, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., according to a news release.

The proposed five-storey building's preliminary design shows 70 residential units, with retail space on the ground floor. The units will include 33 one-bedroom plus den units, eight two-bedroom units, 26 two-bedrooms plus den units and three three-bedroom units.

The Coombs Farmers' Institute event will offer seeds, bedding starts, nursery plants and other farm and garden products to help make 2025 a successful year for food production.
