Ottawa chatrooms:

Please note the following:

* All chatrooms are linked together. If you join one room your messages will be copied to the other platforms.

* Matrix is an open source and potentially distributed chat protocol. The matrix room listed is hosted on matrix.org, a somewhat centralized hub for a lot of currently public rooms. Though the protocol itself is free, libre and open source, the deployment of the protocol resembles a centralized service. This may be fixed in the future with the deployment of independent servers.

* Be aware that both Telegram and Discord are centralized proprietary platforms and do not necessarily protect your rights nor privacy while simultaneously giving power to corporations.

Those routes had the most undelivered routes and, therefore, the lowest reliability percentages, though they were still in the mid-90s.

Very high levels of air pollution due to smoke from forest fires is expected through tonight and Friday and possibly through Saturday.

Smoke plumes from forest fires over northeastern Ontario and Quebec will move into the area today, resulting in deteriorated air quality. These conditions are expected to continue into Saturday.

Air quality and visibility due to wildfire smoke can fluctuate over short distances and can vary considerably from hour to hour.

For more details, please consult www.canada.ca/en/environment-climate-change/services/air-quality-health-index/wildfire-smoke.html.

Wildfire smoke can be harmful to everyone’s health even at low concentrations. Continue to take actions to protect your health and reduce exposure to smoke.

People with lung disease (such as asthma) or heart disease, older adults, children, pregnant people, and people who work outdoors are at higher risk of experiencing health effects caused by wildfire smoke.

Visit www.airhealth.ca for information on how to reduce your health risk and your personal contribution to pollution levels, as well as for current and forecast AQHI values.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada.

Service complaints aside, one of the top concerns for anyone who uses OC Transpo is up-to-date service info and departure times. Some great news from OC Transpo today: riders in the Ottawa area can use the upgraded version of the popular Transit app, for free.

Thought I would ask here before Montreal. Are the 'fast passes' worth it, if they are should we get the platinum one? I was expecting to pay $100 for each ticket anyways, didn't realize entry was only $35. Thanks

Enjoy a day of better air quality due to the rain. Environment Canada meteorologist Peter Kimball is quoted:

There will be a risk of showers and thunderstorms on Tuesday into Wednesday. That weather is predicted to bring a shift in wind patterns that should return air quality to good levels once again later this week, after another period of smoke clouding the sky Wednesday into Thursday.

Right now I'm using Duolingo, but I'm getting tired of being told dejeuner means "lunch". Is there something I can use that's more localized?

This should be a wake up call to the Mayor and councillors.

Their priorities and solutions for affordable housing in the region may need to benchmark on larger and more densely populated metropolitan areas.
