Since the temporalis price is crashing down as few people might've noticed might as well share that there's currently a "dupe" going on by trading/saving it right after the boss and abusing rollback back into the scamtum repeat and so on.

I've seen a lot of posts recently about people losing great drops because they died and can't re-enter the map, and it made me think of the Vagrant mechanic from Dark Souls.

For people who don't know, Vagrants in Dark Souls are extremely rare crab-like enemies that spawn under rare conditions (if you're playing offline you'll never see them). Basically, if someone dies with a ton of souls and humanity and fails to collect their corpse, it will cause a Vagrant to spawn in another player's world.

Essentially, a Vagrant is someone else getting rewarded for your mistakes. I think this would fit perfectly in PoE 2 as some kind of treasure goblin variant. Imagine you die with a Divine Orb on the ground and the game stores that information in a list somewhere, and after a certain number of players die with loot adding up to a certain value, a "Vagrant" spawns in another player's game that drops copies of all of those items when killed.

Here are some other ideas that could spice up the system:

  1. It could drop an item with the player names of the dead players who contributed to its items. Kindhearted players could try to return the items to the players who lost them, and naughty gamers could cackle and keep the loot for themselves. It would make the system kind of feel like finding a wallet on the ground with an ID card in it.

  2. The Vagrant could be a rough copy of the player who died to spawn it, using their abilities. This could be a tie-in with the Rogue Exile system from PoE1, it fits perfectly.

What do you think? PoE 2 is already borrowing a lot of elements from Dark Souls, why not borrow one more?

Seriously, it increasing by 12.5% per Level is absolutely insane. I could potentially get a level 39 Gas Arrow, which would be 100% more than my current level 25 Gas Arrow, but I don't want to because it would make the mana cost go from 145 (which is already steep) to a whooping 713. How the hell am I supposed to sustain 713 Mana per attack? BEFORE THE MULTIPLIERS! Realistically we are looking at 1026 Mana Cost per attack. I don't even HAVE 1026 mana. If I were to run Inspiration, that basically means losing 30% more damage in order to reduce it to 615... Which I could far more easily by simply dropping a few Gem Levels.

-edit-

STOP TALKING ABOUT THE STUPID INSPIRATION GEM! IT'S BAD! Like, terribly bad.

40% is nothing. That's literally 4 Gem Levels. Which amounts to 21% more damage. You would be BETTER OFF ditching 4 Gem levels and using a normal support gem.

It took PoE1 a long time to get things right, but in the end it was a combination of these things that made melee viable:

  • Melee abilities do significantly more damage baseline to compensate for the inherent risk in melee (Settlers league patch damage effectiveness buff on all melee abilities)

  • Fortify offering significant damage reduction that is only available to melee in actual practice

  • Accesible ways to heavily mitigate or become immune to CC effects and debuffs that melee are significantly more affected by (freeze/stun/shock)

  • Strong leech ensuring that as long as you continue attacking you will have a significant source of recovery, making it far less punishing to risk getting hit at all - something that melee inherently needs to do much more than range - resulting in much higher overall damage uptime, and less running around in circles desperately avoiding attacks and trying to find a window to get a few hits in.

  • Fast attack speeds and attack animations that lock you in place only for short durations, that only scale higher and higher the further you get in progression.

PoE2, rather than ending up as the 'melee fix' sequel, is in a place where it needs to learn from the remedies that PoE1 implemented over many years of experimentation to finally get melee into a good state in its most recent league. It feels like PoE2 has learned nothing from the solutions implemented by the devs to the melee problem in PoE1 over the last few years.

We're starting to see a lot of posts on various issues encountered with the game. Instead of creating a separate post, please use this megathread to help consolidate the information and help keep the subreddit from getting spammed with the same topics over and over again. You all have been doing a great job of reporting repeat topics and rule breakers and we encourage you all to keep it up. Thank you!

Am I the only one that literally can't stand this anymore.

My build can face tank any rare mobs/ bosses and my only deaths in maps are from rushing to pick up loot after monsters die.

The sad part most of the times there is no indicator and even when it is I assume it's the corruption animation that is played after a rare mobs dies.

Very frustrating to lose 30ex a map because the game performance is so poor when stacking any reasonable amount of mechanics... Invest 30 ex rolling a 3 positive affix way-stone add 1 increase rare mob deli effect. Run said way-stone on a breach map. Clear entire map then do the first breach performance drops to crap. (4090, I-9 13xxx, 64 gb setup) Game freezes for 1.2 sec and when unfroze you have died. To achieve any reasonable amount of ground loot you need to juice the maps, but having it all hang on one portal makes the game just unfun.

We already have HC for those that want to run the risk of losing it all on a single screw up, making the entire endgame just turns every map into a slog and totally throws off the risk vs reward.

Character wise I've beaten t4 Breach t4 Arbiter, T2 Orloth and T2 King of the mist.. I really love the game but 1 portal is not the play for SC..

My Solution 3-6 portals all mobs still alive on map heal to full, bosses completely reset. Heck Id even be happy with 2 portals but I truly feel 3 is the correct number and has been for over 100 years in many aspects of human life.. 3 strikes and your out..

If the charges dont do anything by themselves and are augmenting other skills then why have the three charges at all? They could've just made it into an "arcane/soul charge" or something like that and just make it so that the builds are using the them. (Made this post because I thought power charges gave crit chance and I got goofed and now I'm a bit salty).

I'd like to see a pinned megathread about the current security breach with a bullet point of various or relevant facts.

(Hypothetical example)

Those who have lost their accounts:

  • Used trade website recently?
  • Have an extension that interacts with trade?
  • Had a potential trade rush into their map and then leave the game?
  • Age of account
  • Last time of password change
  • Any big items for sale?
  • Which game was affected?

Stuff like that.
