I decided to buy a new cpu cooler as the rgb packed up on my old one. After disassembly, installation and reassembly, I noticed that the new one was way louder at idle, as in 25db louder. I figured I just got unlucky and received a dodgy one, so I bought a different one, only to have the exact same issue.

At this point I really started to scratch my head. I'm generally, pretty unlucky but surely not that unlucky? I thought. I figured that maybe this is just a common issue with that manufacturer, so I decided to 'you guessed it' buy another one from a different manufacturer. And wouldn't you know? Exact same issue!

Long story short. I forgot to reconnect my fan hub to the motherboard, so my 6 case fans were all running at hyper speed!

Don't be like me, don't be stupid.
