I don’t mind answering questions or giving a rundown of what I plan to do or my approach, but I had an individual watch me for the entirety of a multi-day project. He even tried to eat lunch and take smoke breaks with me. At that point, I got food and took breaks elsewhere. This was when I was younger. Would not tolerate it now.

What’s the worst lingering person story you have?

Probably the wrong place to air my laundry but fuck it . I do enjoy what I do but the daily grind is starting to wear me down .only 32 and have back problems and sore knees constantly. work all day in the cold and in the heat and don’t feel like people get it that don’t work construction. All day I’m surrounded by people who use substances to deal with they’re own issues and it’s not like mental health is something we worry about in the trades . Been clean for awhile now lost my dad and brother to drugs I want to stay away from it for my kids sake . I donno just feeling it today I guess .

Hi,

New homeowner here, and with the winter months coming I'm growing paranoid of what to do in the event of burst pipes. I spoke to a local plumber who has inspected the house with me, and he said the house does not have a main water shut off valve. I have located the utility valve from the street, but that's all. I've searched quite a few places and don't see anything that looks like one. Is it possible some houses are built without a shut off valve?

If it matters, this is in Georgia, USA.

Family member had a plumber do that and not vent out the roof in coastal Southern California.

I’ve read here before that’s a bad idea. Is there any good reason to do that?
