Spikevegeta with Ghostkumo, Rielelt, and KeiperDontCare on the couch! Probably my favorite Donkey Kong game. Along with one of my favorite speedrunners! Spike is an iconic character for GDQ. The man is one of the most charismatic and entertaining runners our hobby has, and him plus his couch put on an excellent show. They explain everything well and have a great time doing it!

Yes, sorry if this is fluff, but I just wanted to make the observation that this GDQ's interstitials (outside of the always entertaining prize segments) have been remarkably fun. I hope they put them up on YouTube somewhere in a compilation of sorts.

The animated interview with house artist LLK was very charming. Xem doing some Italian opera was beautiful, along with highlights of previous musical segments at events. Today's "dating game" segment with Tomatoangus was campily, weirdly funny.

I read in a similar thread about interstitials from an event last year that these are apparently varying degrees of experimental. If so, I hope they keep cookin'!

Happy GDQ folks.

Add.: Also the guess the song segment, wow!

Give it up!

Wes and couch co: Ateatree, Kingjo444, Traineranade and skybilz.

What an utter concert of a performance. Seriously, it was such a stand out past hour that has blown my mind.

Amazing playing of both the game AND piano and commentry and all the couch little banter was great

"Annnnd time willllll be.... " *Dies* ... not once... but TWICE! XD

Fully deserved that standing ovation, followed by the blindfolded 1-1 level run! Amazing.

The runner made no attempt to explain the game's actual mechanics, which was the correct choice, because that would have gotten in the way of all the flipkicks.

Sitting here in the practice room at 1:40am writing this up.

I cannot understate how important of a game that D/Generation is in regards to me and my entrance into speedrunning.

As noted in the exhibition, This game, my very first speedgame, helped with getting through some dark times. I was at my lowest point mental-state wise back in 2011/2012 when I first started to look into the DOS version of this game. Attempting to lower my own personal best time really did help with getting my mind off of everything that was going on then. I do occasionally come back to this game when things get too much in life.

I did strictly only this game from 2012-2016, where I picked up Bungie's Marathon trilogy.

Regarding what was mentioned at the end of the run: I was not told by my family if my grandfather's stage IV cancer diagnosis was deemed terminal so I'm really hoping he's able to fight this as much as he can. I'll still be at the event until it's conclusion, but I'll definitely be reaching out to relatives during the rest of the week and going to see if I can take a day off next week from work to take a day trip to see them in the hospital.

Hi everyone! I ran a category of one of my favorite FPS games which is the most fun in my opinion, but the nature of the run using the game over screen to break the game makes for a confusing run from a viewer perspective. Hopefully I explained things well, but if anyone has any questions about the run or any other categories in the Turok community I’ll do my best to answer them!

Xem is such a charismatic and entertaining runner, easily one of the best. It's a long run, but trust me, it really is worth it.

A mix of super high skill and cool gameplay with excellent commentary. They break down the run, make jokes, and legitimately have a great time.

The Oprea singing by Xem was just the cherry on top. It's a top run for this GDQ, for sure.

Original Title: Super Mario Bros race: GTACE vs SuperSonic vs Scapel vs Jeremymkw. Couch is Flibidydibidy and Jay_the_wook. Really cool race with them all on their own NES but being displayed on the same spectator screen. Another must watch!

If you've seen the previous GDQ runs of F-Zero GX, the fact they're able to do these insane tricks at such high velocity is nothing but mindblowing!

This classic remake is a fan favorite, ToastedKat showed off some awesome tech and new skips. The super dashes and ending skip to Gnasty Nork were exceptional. Commentary was both funny and informative. One of my favorite runs this event so far.

Always honored to show off a run at GDQ! I’ll also be volunteering with the event and supporting my friends!

I see all or nothing incentives continue to be included. 'Make this run more interesting for 10,000$', We don't play this game at all unless you donate 300,000$

I really wish the organizers would move away from these and only include things that aren't all or nothing.

It feels horrible as a viewer or donator to see these reach 'sooo close!' but then the runner has to say 'oh well, guess we're done' because it was missing 500$ at the end.
