These are good but none are compatible with the php gender class.

A weirdly limited selection, too. Like, what if you're a Somali?

Look at me, I am your gender now.

So I found a twitter thread talking about this, and the documentation page seems to indicate it's used as a lookup for a name to indicate the most likely gender of that name is. https://pecl.php.net/package/gender/0.6.0

The country inclusion is odd, but then again apple also does this with oddly specific (to someone living in the west) family relations that exist in other countries/cultural regions. https://developer.apple.com/documentation/contacts/cnlabelcontactrelationeldercousinmotherssiblingsdaughterorfatherssistersdaughter

That's neat. I don't suppose there's an anthropology community yet?

I didn't see one in the global search.

The Fediverse is imperfectly connected, unfortunately, so you're not guaranteed to see everything that exists on your instance unless you're specifically looking for it. Hopefully features will be introduced to avoid this exact duplication problem.

From the documentation, it appears that the country codes are for localization presumbly of the names of the genders.

Edit: Ah, others already said this (didn't refresh and kbin doesn't update this automatically). Refer to above.

Yeah I'm still getting used to this federation thing too.

What in the hell is KAZAKH_USBEK?

Kazakhstan / Uzbekistan. Weird that they're considered the same country by this class
