This is a backup forum for exodus from reddit. As of now (June 30 2023) the reddit /r/GMECanada is STILL ACTIVE but 3rd party mobile apps no longer work.

Unfortunately there have been so many crypto scams over the years (CEX - centralized crypto exchanges though!) that banks are eager to use that history to discredit DEX (de-centralized crypto with self-custodial wallets). The banks have a vested interest in pretending they're the same thing, and they're probably afraid of people at large realizing there is a way to hold and exchange currency out of their control.
Honestly I'd be surprised if major governments (lobbied/controlled by bank interests to a great extent) don't try to outlaw DEX completely if it becomes too popular though.
Also removes funds from the perpetual fractional reserve banking system. I do get a bit of the hesitation, my thing is it wasnt a question of motives(ie nigerian price aksing) or if I of sound mind to make this trasaction. It just wasnt an option, and the hanging up on me while I waited for a way to lodge a complaint on bad service was a great touch. But also got my mtg lord of the rings commandar decks today in the mail so over... meh haha
