Linguistics (mander.xyz)

I've recreated a Linguistics community here in mander.xyz. As the sidebar says, it's for everyone, regardless of previous knowledge over the field, so even if you're a layperson feel free to drop by.

Here's the link: [email protected]

In case that you're in a Kbin/Mbin instance and the above doesn't work, try /m/[email protected] instead.

FYI the Lemmy link works fine on kbin/mbin (and the other one requires copy-pasting) -- I'd recommend just posting only the "Lemmy" link.

I've changed it. Thank you!

Wait -- now it takes me direct to the mander server. Before, the one that was in the Lemmy bullet point was perfect (whatever it was would go to /[email protected] which would work on any kbin/mbin server whether the community was already federated or not).

Edit: Actually, I don't know if that's ideal, because bots will hit the link and cause federation load which maybe isn't ideal. But, it was convenient 🙂)

Weird - I didn't change the Lemmy link, I only removed [and now re-added, just to be sure] the other. Linking between Lemmy and Kbin was always a bit messy O.o

Yeah, I just now figured it out. It's just a bug in mbin. If your instance isn't federated with a community, a Lemmy-style link to that community will get fixed to a working search link which is nice. If it is federated, though, you'll get sent to the instance where the community is hosted, which is obviously wrong.

Don't sweat it; I've got a little running list of minor mbin bugs to file upstream or deal with in some way, and I'll throw that one on the list. Anyway thanks for the post. 😀
