Nice carvings. What species of wood is that?

Basswood. Got it off a guy on eBay.
Ahh yes, basswood. Never seen this wood species.
It's supposed to be the easiest wood to carve for beginners, and it does carve quite nicely if you get the right variety. I bought some poor quality basswood off a no-name Amazon brand and it was quite tough.
That first pic reminds me of Private.
It's actually supposed to be Tux, but I'll take that :)
My first thought was he wants me to install Linux, I got tux from it
Happy cake day! 🎂
Thank you!
That's it! Couldn't dig that out of my slow memory, haha
I thought it was Tux, you nailed it
I think it will more convincingly look like Tux once he's painted. (Hopefully)
It's baby penguin Jesus 🙏
What sort of knives are you working with?
Just the one knife - a flexcut roughing knife (KN14). I followed dywoodcarving on YouTube for the chick, and made the Tux by myself.
Haha, for anyone else puzzled who's seen dywoodcarving before: "followed dywoodcarving's guide for carving a baby chick"
