Why does Ned look like he's holding a microphone?

When your older, you understand how shitty the world really is, and shatters any hope you ever had.

I thought the world was so awesome, space is so vast, the world so interconnected, technology, communication across the whole world, we have flying machines, we (as in humanity) went to the moon, we have machines on mars, we might reverse aging...

Then, the realization that we are alone in space, the universe doesn't care about us, technology is being used for mass surveillance, censorship and propaganda, false information, carbon emissions, recession to authoritarianism, discrimination, etc......

I wish I could be naive and happy as I used to be, but once you grow up, you understand how fucked up thw world is. Its hard to have hope again.

I'm diagnosed with depression, but maybe depression is just the realization of the horrible truth of the world.

When a new instance is created, its default allowing all other instances to federate. But nobody knows you exist and you don't know anyone else exist. It isn't until 2 instances interact, a "link" is established. When linked, the instance url will show up on each other's /instances page. (like lemmy.ml/instances just replace the domain with whatever) You establish the link by manually searching for a community. example: [email protected] and then a search will be conducted and withing a few minutes, it will be indexed and show up on the instance that conducted the search. Now you know each other exist, but you also have to manually search every community in order to find everything a instance has to offer. But to sync every post in the indexed communities, there must be at least one subscriber to a community.

So basically,

-Start instance

-Search for communities

-Subscribe to communities

And you're good to go.

if you want the target instance to see your instance's communities, you do step 2 and 3 on their instance using an account you created there.

There are also many developing countries in the world. Not saying it justifies the current state of the US, but to put it in perspective, a lot of people still want to come to the US. As an immigrant, I do not wish to go back to my former country, I mean, unless war breaks out or the US becoming a dictatorship or something, but its already too late for me. Once I gotten my US citizenship, my former country revoked my old citizenship.

Typically yes, but in this case, there is no modlog for the reason of removal since the logs got purged by the admins. They forgot to delete the other log which says the user was banned and reason being "Misinformation"

There a modlog button at the bottom of the page, you can see for yourself, but they might've be deleted by now.

Edit: Apparantly, the user was only banned from the community, his account is still not banned.

I mean it could be worse. In an alternate timeline, you could be living in world where the nazis built nukes first and America becomes a fascist puppet state.

Admendments are a thing... just bribe 2/3 of each house and 3/4 of state legislatures... Or just do a coup

Can't relate, shower warms up in 5 seconds.

Maybe I'm just too spoiled by first world luxuries. Where do you live? (as in where in the world, I don't want your address lol)

I dont think the suggestions are even based on history, its just the default "trending" page. Well its not like that every day, sometimes I get random news, like submarine implosion, but often it's just cringy shit like minecraft challenges, something something sniperwolf, reaction videos, "life hacks", nothing meaningful, then you get bad days when its hyper political stuff.

At this point I have been ignoreing the default trending videos for many years, I only search channels I like, such as science channels, tech, gaming.

More like fuck capitalism, especially the ones that have little to no regulations.
