Was scrolling to see if I'd see Rubicon. Could've been a cool show

I try to use Foss but only when it's a lateral move. I tried Linux mint. It came close but there were so many little things that just didn't make sense to me as someone who used windows for the last 25 years. Do I want to use Windows 11? No, especially with everything they've been doing to it. But in terms of usability, the sacrifices that I make by using Windows 11 outweigh the extra work, frustration, and time spent trying to figure out Linux (tried 3 different distros too).

I have 3 little kids, a full time job and aging parents. I don't have hours every day to try and make stuff work.

Here's the thing though, for the average plex user (myself included) you've already used too many acronyms and words I don't understand. Plex serves a purpose for a lot of people, people who are even willing to pay for it to be easy.

Kind of reminds me of Netflix before anyone else did streaming. They had so much stuff I stopped sailing.

Adding to the pile, Earth's Own is significantly better

As a Canadian, we've had the attitude for awhile "at least we're not as bad as the USA" but we've definitely drifted from the EU way of doing things. I've always felt like a hybrid between the two (with leanings more to eu).

I wish as Canadians, instead of looking over the fence and patting ourselves on the back for not being the USA, we'd look over the fence and try to see what we can do to improve more (because why reinvent the wheel if you don't have to).

Not murder, but I'll be damned if as a teacher and parent kids aren't wackier during the full moon.

Also, sugar doesn't cause hyperactivity. Who ever doesn't think that can teach for me on Halloween

Anyone know what this software is called?

Not sure I'd hold my breath. All the snow birds were lining up when I had to drive down for work.

I usually am the same way. I've definitely had the luxury of being able to try stuff in store.

Anecdotally, most of their stuff says 100% cotton but it doesn't shrink like other cotton things I've bought. I'm guessing it has something to do with the quality or blend.

Either way, I get where you're coming from and respect that - I'd be the same way.

Corona 0% are pretty good and are sold at Costco. If you're Canadian, Sobeys brand blonde ales are good too

Dumb question... But what's the rest of it?

Is it .io or?

I assume these are for torrents but I can't find them.

I also liked this book. As an aside, you might like "A Psalm for the Wild Built". It's VERY similar in vibe, not fantasy though. Hard to say sci-fi as it doesn't feel super futuristic other than sentient robots that have disappeared.

I'll leave it there but it was the same relaxed vibes of L&L.

I bought a computer off Kijiji that was from someone who builds them for cheap. I bought it for a plex server.

I recently did a hard drive check, and the hd is getting spotty.

I did a check for windows license and it says it's "retail" with a partial key. I was thinking of buying a new SSD to put in but how do I get a windows key now?

I'm somewhat computer minded but this one I've never dealt with. (I also have no interest in installing Linux right now)

Thanks!

I had the previous model but loaned it to a student, who had it stolen from them.

I'm trying to get my hands on the EB-P3300XJEGWW or EB-PU300XJEGWW 25w power bank but they don't sell it in Canada (that I can find). Is there an alternative powerbank that will charge my GW4 and my S23? Or is there someone in the US near the border who can ship me one?

Thanks!

Hello!

I was wanting to move my washing machine and dry to a different part of the laundry room. It's all open ceiling so my thought was to run the cold/hot/drain hoses up the wall about 3ft, then across the ceiling about 5ft and then down another 3 ft to the sink to drain (or in the case of the taps, get the hot and cold)

I was going to use pex to get the water to where it needs to be.

Is this too far? Will the washer still be able to drain at that length? Can it drain up like that first?

Thanks!

What's been the best video you've watched for home repair / maintenance /etc.

I followed this guy for framing my basement https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=p6vq-cOAi0Y

I'm looking for drywall repair videos for dummies (I've done it but it always looks bad...). Of course there's a million different ones, so what worked for you?

I downloaded an apk from mobilism and before I install it, how do I go about ensuring it's not malware or an unsafe app? I'm all for buying apps but I hate all these subscriptions...

help with tires (self.mechanicadvice)

I have all seasons on my Chev 2019 Silverado. At an oil change the guy said my back tires were a "3". No way I was buying his tires but it begs the question...

What all season tires should I get? I do about 40km of highway driving in the winter, and a bunch in the summer if that matters.

Right now I'm not required to nor am I looking for winters

Particularly kids shows. I've found yggtorrents but it takes forever to seed. There's a season of TV I want to get for my kids but it's over the ratio I have haha.

I'm not concerned with paying for a private tracker so long as they're trusted. I'd prefer a Usenet solution if that's possible.

I'm not sure where to post this so I'm hoping onebag can help. I'm a band director and I carry large music scores (up to 12 x 18) and I'm looking for a bag that I can use to transport them back and forth from work. Ideally it would be less than $200 Canadian. Closest thing I've seen was the timbuk2 alcatraz backback but you can't get that in Canada...

Thanks!

I'm hoping this is an ok community to post this in...

I'm looking for a surge protector with battery back up for my computer. I've looked up a few on Amazon but some of the reviews have left me leery. There's so much junk on Amazon I'm hoping that someone here might be able to recommend one they've used.

TIA!

My kid has been doing the Bob Book Workbooks (and reading the Bob books) and I'm wondering if there are any alternatives that as leveled that I could grab so she has some variety? I don't need something more challenging (she's gr. 1) but just something the same but different

Thanks!
