I bought a silicone soldering mat on ebay a few months ago, deliberately bought it on ebay to avoid Amazon. It was delievered by Amazon, in an Amazon envelope, the ebay seller had just used their Prime to have it delivered to my address, and charged an extra couple dollars over the Amazon price. Wasn't very happy about it, but what a hustle that person is running.

We've also already gotten some benefit for truely useful, non-copyright infringing AI (generally the kinds used by scientists evaluating big data sets like protein folding and finding exoplanets). None of those AIs rely on stolen art or stolen copyrighted material. But they have benefited somewhat from the pursuit of AI processing hardware. So even if you are pro-AI where it has shown any real value as a tool, you still don't need the copyright infringement. Let's kill OpenAI, and other LLMs that stole to get where they are. The actually useful AI probably won't go anywhere, even if the companies pushing their AI the most right now all go under.

The thing is, I think our attention spans are too cooked to be overwhelmed like that anymore. A new crisis every 20 minutes? I can get through 40+ tiktok videos in that time, and half of them will be about something they are trying to terrify with (trans rights, science defunding, bird flu, racism, palestine, the oligarchy, luigi, etc.)

The old media can't keep up, but I'm in my mid-thirties and even my old brain can handle being pulled in dozens of directions and still think about/remember Luigi, unprompted, multiple times a day.

To add to this, if the stock takes enough of a hit, Elon may either step aside as Tesla CEO, or the board may replace him. If that does happen, don't let up. As long as Elon is a shareholder, he benefits from Tesla's stock price - even if the people who are brought in to turn it around are saints and the polar opposite of Elon. As long as he's a shareholder, he'll still benefit.

That setup sounds great. The system I'm working on putting together is similar to your secondary setup. I picked up most of the equipment after Huricane Helene when we had neighbors who were without power for a couple of weeks (we're kinda lucky where we live that we're about 200 yards from the local fire department and on the same trunkline so they got our power back within a couple of days), but I have around 1.6 kw worth of panels and 2400 Wh of battery. Have a cheap 500w inverter for now, but will probably upgrade when I can afford it.

Mine will also be entirely off-grid. Hoping to get it installed soon now that the weather is getting better. Spent most of these colder months working on lowering my power use requirements - like moving a bunch of services off my more power-hungry (~60w average) homelab/NAS onto a Raspberry Pi and another ARM SBC that combined pull around 7w.

At this point, I'm not going for being able to power everything through an outage. Just trying to have enough that we can keep some essentials and some basic comforts like lighting in the evenings. My roommate has some off the shelf Eco-flow batteries and panels that have been able to keep our small chest freezer powered, but A/C and water heating will be things we'd have to go without, and we'd have to move cooking outdoors until we can get our old fireplace/chimney remodeled.

Probably not a great option considering how Nightreign is built around online multiplayer more than any other Fromsoft game. I guess there's maybe a chance for a selfhosted multiplayer server, but otherwise the likelihood of a pirated version actually working seems slim.

JD Vance and Mike Johnson are strong deterrents to that though. Because both are equally dangerous as Trump in their own ways, and at least a tiny bit more competent. Vance would be more pro-oligarch than Trump, and Johnson would be more Christian Nationalist/Handmaid's Tale. If anything Trump's erratic nature keeps those factions off balance because he's so self-serving.

At this point, most people don't care if he walks even IF HE DID DO IT

I'd almost go so far as to say I'm looking forward to the OJ Simpson-esque "If I did it" book in 10 years.

Glad they clarified. To me the "selling data being defined broadly" argument made sense in the context of Google paying them to be included as a search provider. Because there is an argument that Google paying Firefox, and then the user entering a search and that being sent to Google's servers could be legally seen as Mozilla selling data to Google.

I "broke" about 8pm ET to donate to Ukraine. I know we were boycotting Visa/Mastercard too, but after yesterday's shitshow I felt like solidarity was worth more than my boycott.

Otherwise, it was fine. I've already been heavily limiting my spending since the inauguration anyway, after admittedly overspending at the end of the Biden term to prep for impending tariffs.

Also seems like typical Lunduke trying to make something out of nothing. Dude loves to fearmonger, especially about Mozilla. I'm not saying Mozilla hasn't done things I dislike, but Lunduke has had it out for them since Brendan Eich stepped down over his opposition to gay rights.

Gotta start somewhere with people. The point is that anyone can do this, and it's easy to do, but it isn't really any more difficult to show up to a town hall. And while yes, you and I can (and probably do) take larger, more effective steps, longer boycotts, etc. We need numbers, and that, I think, is the real value of this.
