2025 is off to a great start.

You all know they meant a subset of English and weren't using it as a derogatory term.

“No transgender, no operations—you know, they take your kid—there are some places, your boy leaves for school, comes back a girl. Okay? Without parental consent.” He added, “At first, when I was told that was actually happening, I said, you know, it’s an exaggeration. No: it happens. It happens. There are areas where it happens.”

Gotta wonder if he's manufacturing reality or if he's also caught up in a manufactured reality.

This better be a literal street fight.

I don't get it at all, personally. Or at least I don't get going into big box retail anyway. No shot I ever want to go back to that.

The main thread I picked up, from my interview, to the CEO talk, to the manager, was that you can move up fast if you come in, do a good job and take care of customers.

If that's honestly your goal, do yourself a favor and look it up. Lowes is huge and this information is no doubt out there. But if your goal is to make it into their management program or something, working from entry level retail position is usually not the play.

Is this a kidnapping?

Neither can they.

While I’m generally a scifi fan and watched tons of scifi TV in those days, the Buffy shows a lot of my friends were into bored the hell out of me and I didn’t feel like checking out another show by the same guy.

fwiw, Firefly is nothing like Buffy.

Never seen any of the Lord of the Rings and have no plans to.

What’s even the point of writing anything if it’s just gonna be gone in like a week?

We are all but dust, my friend.

What value are you getting out of deleting them? Are you low on storage or something? Or some sort of minimal living life-in-my-backpack type?

I already gave my reasons. I don't want a history of my conversations that can be leaked. I enjoy my privacy. And I have no other reasons to keep them. I was just looking for an actual reason to keep these because I just don't get it. And I guess you've got nothing to offer there. Which is fine, I was just trying to understand.

Monetary value isn’t the only kind of value to me I guess.

Implying that the only value I recognize is monetary? Don't be a dick.

Uhm, anything and everything? Like what “casual bullshit” you were up to or what you were “organising”?

I'm honestly curious and your answer just parroted what I said without explanation. Are you just sitting around reading conversations from months ago for entertainment or something? What value are you getting out of keeping chats from years ago?

So you don’t even wish you could preserve those?

Not in the slightest. For what purpose would I want that? I'm not making a This American Life podcast using my inane conversations.

The image proxy appears to be borking some (all?) gif links. For example:

The image proxy returns the response:

{"code":"validate-width","msg":"Too wide"}

Is it actually too wide or is this a bug? If it's legit, shouldn't the proxy make the necessary adjustments? Any way around this? Seems like tenor at least has large size low rez images. Not sure if this is a recent change on either end, but haven't had this issue before.
