Anger over Elon Musk’s role in the government and with the Department of Government Efficiency has been growing at a steady pace for weeks now. A new twist to the protests, however, could endanger not only DOGE team members, but people who are simply trying to get to work or around town.

An online searchable map called Dogequest appeared early this week, highlighting the locations of Tesla owners, dealerships, and Superchargers, and doxxing members of the DOGE team, offering what it said were their home addresses and phone numbers. While live, the site said it would remove the information of Tesla owners once they submitted proof they had sold their vehicle.

The site was taken offline days later.

That map followed a recent wave of vandalism aimed at Tesla dealerships and vehicles. An attack in Las Vegas this week damaged five vehicles with gunfire and Molotov cocktails, one of which had “RESIST” spray-painted on it. No arrests were made. On March 13, more than a dozen shots were fired at a Tesla dealership in Oregon, the second incident at that location in one week.

Attorney General Pam Bondi has described those attacks as “domestic terrorism.” Dogequest dangers linger

The appearance of a doxxing map (first reported by 404 Media), though, took things to another level. The site’s cursor was reflected as a Molotov cocktail and the site contained language reading “If you’re on the hunt for a Tesla to unleash your artistic flair with a spray can, just step outside—no map needed!”

While the creators took the original site down, they, like many of the people who have lit the company’s cars on fire, have not been identified. Additionally, there’s no telling whether Dogequest will surface once again or whether enterprising Musk protesters made a copy of the information it held while it was live.

In fact, the creators of Dogequest encouraged people to copy it. One of the questions on the site’s FAQ was, “Can I mirror this website?” to which the creators wrote, “Of course! Anticipating that some might try to take us down, we’ve designed DOGEQUEST to be super easy to mirror,” followed by instructions on how to do so.

That means the purported addresses of people working for DOGE are still likely floating on the web, as well as those of people who simply own a Tesla. (How accurate and extensive that information was is unclear, as was the original source of the data. 404 Media was able to confirm that some of the Tesla owner information was accurate.)

Musk, responding to a tweet that mentioned Dogequest, used the same language as Bondi, writing “Encouraging destruction of Teslas throughout the country is extreme domestic terrorism!!” Some Cybertruck owners, meanwhile, have launched a support group on Facebook and are seeking to become a protected class. Tesla’s stock, meanwhile, has dropped nearly 30 percent in the past month. On Thursday, Musk held an all-hands meeting at the automaker where he urged employees to “hang onto your stock.”

It is never a good sign to beg stockholders to not sell.
