Connect for Lemmy App

I wanted to block a community, but clicked on instance instead.

The instance appears on my block list, and no matter how many times I unblock it, it always come back in my block list.

It seems that the change doesn't save when I exit the menu.

Love the app so far!

One issue: I know I've subscribed to many more communities than just the ones that show up in the sidebar. But not all of my subscribed communities are listed there. I've double checked that I really am subscribed to those communities as well.

In the web app version of Lemmy it clearly has ALL my subscribed communities. Any idea if others are seeing this issue too?

Just curious. I've enabled "set scrolled past posts as read" and "hide read posts" but still seeing posts, that I've already seen after refreshing...

I noticed when using the static top bar and you click the Next button on a comment, it scrolls to the next comment but the Next button at this comment is hidden by top bar. You have to scroll up a little to get to it. Version 1.0.82

The competition between Lemmy apps is really hotting up.

As more and more apps get all the features we want, it gets harder to pick one.

I've found myself still favouring Connect and I realised it's because it looks nicer to me when reading through comments.

Something about the font and spacing makes it look nicer than the competition.

Second best for me is Liftoff. The features are now there, but at a side-by-side comparison, this app looks easier to read.

Out of interest what font does Connect use?

I would like to see my feed in list view but have posts open in card view so I would be able to see any linked pictures.

Is this possible currently?

I would very much enjoy being able to create custom feeds as Reddit currently allows, i.e. dump multiple subreddits into a single feed. For practical implementation, you could mimic this functionality by allowing the user to add tags to subscriptions (client-side only) and add these filtered feeds somewhere near the location of "Frontpage".

Frontpage (all subscriptions)

• Pics (all Frontpage subscriptions tagged Pics)
• Tech (all Frontpage subscriptions tagged Tech)
• PORN (all Frontpage subscriptions you obviously don't have)
• ...

This way I won't have to scroll past 200 cats if I want to read up on the latest Android news (which appear to be released less frequently than pictures of random cats).

Used the Block Community item on a post in the memes community post and got a blocked community response but the block doesn't show in Settings and doesn't work.

EDIT: This is in the All feed.

Is it possible to follow people on Mastodon from lemmy.world on the Connect app? Or is this a feature planned for the future?

At the moment when I click on a user on Mastodon it brings me to their profile, I can see their posts, comments and even block the user but there doesn't seem to be any option to follow, that I can see.

I believe it's possible on Kbin. Is this question more suited for lemmy.world or is this just a feature that hasn't arrived on the Connect app yet?

When you click on About Instance, then View Communities, then click on a community you aren't subscribed too, you get the wrong community (one you aren't subscribed to).

Like the title says, I see red numbers on the bell, I click the bell, then go through my notifications (my comment replies) then go back and the bell still shows the same red number of notifications as if I didn't attend them.

Edit: I'd need to click the double checkmark to mark them all as "read" even though the list is empty. Thanks

I like to browse for a bit while hiding and saving posts then refresh...but the posts I hid reappear when I scroll up which kind of defeats the purpose of hiding them.

I'm guessing this exists in case you accidentally hide something...but if that's the case, might I recommend a small "Undo" button that shows up for a couple seconds?

In case I'm doing a bad job communicating the issue, these are the steps to repeat:

1. Browse ALL or any high-volume feed

2. Hide 10-20 posts and scroll down past them

3. Scroll back up. The posts you hid are back

Small feature request: Could you add a setting to open links in external "incognito" / "private" custom tab? You know, for the chrome / browsers history sake ;) ?

I'm sorry if I just can't find it but I can't seem to... I've taken a bit of time to subscribe to a bunch of communities hoping to curate a decent feed but now I'm trying to look at it I'm finding that such a thing doesn't exist on this app?

I'm running the latest beta (1.0.82) so firstly I like to say thank you for updating the community listing in the side panel! It now is correctly showing all the communities I'm subscribed to.

My feature request I would like to see in the app (and someone please point me to it if it already exists) is a post Score threshold filter. What I mean by this is, I like to browse posts by new so that I see more rapid change/turnover in my feed. Sometimes posts appear that have an extremely negative post Score (most recent example I have seen was at -41). If I were browsing by hot, or top or any of the other sorting algorithms, these posts would be weighted so low that they wouldn't appear. Is there a way to set a score threshold (say something like -5 (or even better make it user settable)) so that any posts with a score below that threshold get filtered out of all feeds?

I can't seem to stay logged in on any instance, and it's taking an unusually long time after signing out and logging back in for connect to show the side menu.

When switching between accounts, it's necessary to close an reopen the app before it will show the right feed as "via instance name".

I can't tell if it's an app thing, or a lemmy thing because it started after the security issue where we all got logged out from most instances.

Even with this, I had to use a different app to make the post because it returned an error that I wasn't logged in, despite having just logged in twice.

I have been using various filters like "reddit", "threads", and "titan". My goodness, it transforms the Lemmy experience!

And the ability to hide posts. Thank you thank you thank you thank you!

Throw in Lemmy's community blocking...

Since yday I haven't been able to sign in to either of my accounts in Connect. I get the following error.

I've been using the app on breaks at work at nearly half the rate I had been using RIF. Here we see that it still used about 2x the data in roughly the same time period.

The app's great. The bugs are getting hammered out and Lemmy's great too. Can you look into doing some optimising soon?

Edit: To be more specific. RIF used just over 1gig over 10 days of browsing during breaks. Most months hit about 2-2.5 gigs. While connect used 2gigs in 6 days.

I am a boomer and struggling to read comments even when I selected "largest" font size.

(Using beta .077) If not an option, maybe just make that the default behavior? That's how it works for the top bar.

Most of the times when I enter a community list for an instance and wants to check dach community, I get this error. About 8 out of 10 cases, I don't see anything. Is it on lemmy's side or the app's? Can I do anything about it? It seems that using the direct link rarely works too.

The text when I try to type comments (but not the text in the search bar or, as I'm just now learning, here in the 'post body' text box) is white, and I can't find the setting to change it. Obviously I could change my background back to the default blue that it was, but that's the opposite of a solution.

Anybody know?

I woke up this morning and realized all my subscribed instances had disappeared from the sidebar. Anyone else come across this bug?

Signing out then signing back in fixed the issue.

Has anyone else had any issues with the connects battery usage? It seems like my phone is dying before it makes it to the charger each night. when I check the usage stats connect is right there at the top of the list. typically when I used sync for reddit I had between 30 and 50 percent left at the end of the day. I feel like I don't use connect that much either.
