I’ve seen people worried that having the screen on during downloads will cause burn in. I thought it would be a good idea for them to implement a screen saver when you’re in the Downloads tab. The screen saver would be completely black, except for text that says “Downloading (Progress)” That way the screen would be essentially off, and the user doesn't have to wake the screen to see how it’s going. The text would also be moving like the DVD logo to move the pixels around.

I noticed today when my Deck was plugged to the charger while i was playing that there was a brief flicker for a second as if it lost connection, then it flashed back on. I haven't noticed this until just now and I haven't updated the software in a bit. Is that a sign the chargers wires are weakening? I don't remember bending it too severely, and I take good care of it and the Deck, so I'm a bit confused.

The bluetooth can connect to multiple devices so in my case i use them for my phone and my deck.

With my new OLED whenever i put the buds in the deck wakes from sleep.

I'm wondering (and hoping) there is a way to disable this feature / function.

It's a bit annoying since often i just want to use the buds for my phone and don't need the deck to wake.

Hi, does anyone know which drive the Steamdeck OLED 1TB NVMe uses and what the full specs are? I was hoping to get a 1TB drive replacement closest to the OEM specs for my non-OLED steamdeck. Thank you ahead.

I was watching this video and got confused as it seems to be using 1.0 here, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UZKBSf3aLf4

I thought it's 2.0? or maybe 2.1?

Now that the master collection has been out for a little bit is it better to play metal gear solid 2 and 3 on the master collection PS2 / PS3 or 360?

I bought my boyfriend the steam deck oled as a Christmas present and I just got it and I wanted to make sure everything was in there and working but I don’t know how to use this thing I just pressed the power button and nothing happened do I need to charge it first or should it turn on instantly? I already wrapped it so I don’t want to try again but I will unwrap it if I need to… I’ve only ever had an iPhone and it usually turns on right away so sorry if this is a stupid question. Also I had to create an account to buy this but he already has an account would this affect anything? I just didn’t want him to know I bought it.

Been playing some Cyberpunk and Guardians of the Galaxy at 30FPS and I swear it looks and plays much better. I found 30FPS to be tolerable if not unpleasant on the LCD deck but it feels really nice on the OLED though I can’t figure why.

So, is this just placebo effect and does anyone know the technical reasons 30FPS would feel better on the OLED deck?

I was really curious about this, and keep in mind that i have the OLED steam deck so it has a bigger battery, if you have a LCD steam deck in theory, it should add another 25% to it. (50/40)

So I tried a bauses 65w 20000mah power bank for this test. the results will change slightly depending on the efficiency of your power bank but ones with high voltage support are usually better (assuming they use the cells in series with a step down etc)

I managed to charge my steam deck 1.25-1.2 times with this, meaning that for a 20,000mAh power bank:

  • 3H total with no power bank -> of total 7.3H of play time~ (steam deck and power bank both at 100%$)
  • 4H turns into 8.5H
  • 6H turns into 13.4H

for a 10,000mAh power bank (assuming same efficiency, should be slightly lower):

  • 3H turns to 4.8H
  • 4H turns into 6.4H
  • 6H turns into 9.6H

I got a lot of Indies and oldies for around $100 -$120, awesome deals 😍🔥🔥🔥🤑

Dave the diver, Indivisible, Tunic, Digimon cyberslouth complete, Infernax, Divinity Original Sin II, Injustice 2 legendary edition , Shadow of War definitive , Monster Hunter World (base), Wasteland 3 (base), Dysco Eliseum, Spiritfarer, Olli Olli World rad edition, Cassette Beasts deluxe, Nino Kuni 1, Prey, This War of Mine .

Most are old titles but it was definitively worth it IMO! Not buying any other game until next year thou, planning to get the Oled model in december - january, if still available.

I just got my OLED LE and am on the fence how I want to "bring over" my games and settings from my old LCD.

Old: LCD with 1tb SSD (upgraded from 256gb)

  • Has about 800gb full of games. Plus lots of plugins, settings, etc. for customized UI and emulators New: OLED LE 1tb

Options are:

  1. Start fresh! Install all games, emulators, decky plugins, etc.
  2. Swap SSDs!
  3. Clone! Use cloning program / syncthing or something to clone the drive.

One note, I am quite comfortable taking my deck apart, as I swap my buttons occassionally.

Thoughts? Pros & cons for each?

I realize Steam Deck is not a young kids gaming platform, but my 1st grade twin girls loved Hogwarts Legacy so much they asked Santa for their own PC so they don’t have to share mine.

Now that I’ve got two Decks in front of me, I realize most of these games require literacy level above that of a 7 year old 1st grader.

Hogwarts only requires reading the dialog options. Which they can sound out, and realize the first one is normally ok. But even “Lego Brick Tales” requires a modicum of reading.

Do you guys have some good game options for the illiterate among us? Thanks.

I will be visiting Europe and figured I might as well order a steam deck to my hotel in the Netherlands. However, I will only be staying there from december 3rd to the 5th (I leave at 00:00 of the 6th). Acording to the estimated arrival, it should arrive in time, but is that prediction from Valve reliable at all? And if it does not ship in time, am I fucked?

I have a dead blue subpixel and two dead green subpixels. Can't for the life of me get them to show up on camera despite them being obvious on the dead pixel checker. Any advice from those that have gone through this process?

Hey y’all,

Just got my hands on the OLED, my first Steam Deck. Right away, I notice my download speeds are way slower than I’m used to.

Steam on PC: 100-120 MB/s download speed

Steam Deck on Wi-Fi: 5-20 MB/s Steam Deck on Ethernet: 25-50 MB/s

I have gigabit internet, so the 120 Megabytes/s download speed from my PC is right on the money.

Running a speed-test, there doesn’t seem to be an issue as the speeds are where they should be:

Speed test on PC: 950 Mb/s (perfectly fine)

Speed test on Deck’s Wi-Fi: 650 Mb/s (acceptable) Speed test on Deck’s Ethernet: 930 Mb/s (perfectly fine)

Troubleshooting: Beyond the ol’ turn it on and off again, I’ve been perusing old posts and have attempted to “limit” my download speeds to 10,000,000 Kb/s, as well as disabling the Developer’s “Wifi Power Management.” But nothing has worked, so now I’m here to make my own post.

Anyone know of other solutions? Does the Steam Deck simply not surpass these speeds? Ideally I’d like to be getting around the same download speed as my PC when connected—120 MB/s—as opposed to my Deck’s current max of 50 MB/s. And same for Wi-Fi. With the Deck’s 650 Mb/s speed-test, I should at least be getting a max download speed of around 80 MB/s, but not even the connected speed is getting that.

Thanks!

So when I get the new 1TB OLED, I am wanting to protect the antiglare screen with an antiglare protector. My question is, does this visually affect the screen? Since the antiglare etching is a texture, I fear that the adhesive on the protector will be seen on the actual screen, distorting or fogging the image?
I saw a few folks online saying that their antiglare protector atop their antiglare screen made the image blurry, however that was not on the OLED, so I'm hoping that won't be an issue on such a better screen.
Additionally, is the antiglare screen on the 1TB OLED even all that it's cracked up to be, or should I go for a blue light protector instead of antiglare?

Am I worrying for nothing? lol

Just got the steamdeck, travel frequently and put charger behind the black strap on case. Is there a more secured way?

I just got my Steam Deck in the mail and I think I might be in over my head. I purchased madden 23 on the steam store on my deck and can not get it to play at all. I’ve tried different videos of downloading the EA app but once I have the app, it still won’t let me access the game. I’ve also tired Lutris and Heric with no luck. At this point I’m desperate and need help. I’ll be answering questions below!
