Rules

  1. Keep it civil.
  2. No memeposts/shitposts. Memes are great but direct them to grimdank.
  3. Please mark any posts containing realistic nudity or realistic excessive gore/violence as NSFW; this rule mainly applies to cosplay and realistic drawings rather than miniatures. Being that 40k is inherently violent, this is a judgement call, and mods may occasionally request posters add tags.
  4. No political or social cause agenda pushing.

Slaughter's Serenity
I haven't been sitting on my laurels since the last post; I've just been focus painting to get this Cerastus Castigator ready to go! "Slaughter's Serenity" just needs some basing touch-ups and maybe a transfer or two (though I think it looks great without), and then it's done-done.

I've moved 3 times in the past 3 years, and only now do I have a dedicated small table for the miniature hobby. I have made more progress painting in 5 days than I did in the past year!

I think the most important part (for me) is to have a setup where I can just have my WIP there, ready to be worked on instantly. The less friction to start painting, the easier I'll start.

The Skadis board is also great for paint and tools, especially if you have a 3D printer. Having every pots visible when I get into my office makes me want to paint!

How soon in your hobby did you get a dedicated setup? For those that don't, how do you manage the setup time?

Vixen Marches to War (nyc3.digitaloceanspaces.com)

Vixen Marches to War

While the varnish dries on the Lumineth model, I rather quickly painted up this War Dog Moirax. Probably the fastest I've painted one of these, but it's nice to see how my speed and technique are improving. There's still little things I can do: like verdigris and blood effects, but I'm quite happy with the results for a few hours of painting.

Love the chaos team and the lore sounds pretty interesting. I can’t decide how I feel about the Sanctifiers, my first impression was that they look like old sculpts. Having everyone with a gaping mouth is a bit strange. But on the other hand it’s cool to have some more classic looking models. Maybe they’ll grow on me?

What do y’all think?

I just stumbled across this app that uses a QR code in the center of the table to align itself, and then puts AR guides up to help lay down your objectives and terrain. Tested it on my kitchen floor because I was too lazy to get the table set up, and it works creepily well! Has all the different terrain layouts in it, big recommend as of now.

Love these goofy looking goobers.

I realized way too late in the process that I had put the back vents on crooked. Looks like I missed a spot in the arm joint too that I’ll have to go back to.

I think it’s funny that the Datasmith is lugging around his little PS2 memory cards to stick in the robots.

Almost finished up a brotherhood chaplain for my grey knights. Really wish I could get my hands on the older model.

Any tips doing text? X.x scared to attempt those lol

Some other pics; alsomagnetized the hands for swaps (not like it was necessary, but I like maximizing kits lol).

Printed some heavy bolters to get WYSIWYG and magnetised the Hunter-Killers so I can track which of them have already been fired. Immolator stripdown

Continuing my tradition of working on bottom tier teams 😂 I’m not really into Tau but these models have really grown on me. Super fun to paint.

Thought I'd post a photo here. It's my favorite SIsters model I've done. My original intent was to start a Sisters army, with the intent of leaving covid lockdown with a finished army. That didn't happen and I had to abandon ship and focus on my Tyranids. Sisters have the level of detail of an elite army, but the model count of nearly a horde army and that just broke me.

I'll probably pick away at them one unit at a time here and there, and maybe I'll have a full force by the time 15th edition rolls around.

I’m not usually in to collectors editions but I think they knocked it out of the park with these. Very classy. 💯
