Connect for Lemmy App

Tricky to explain exactly. Sometimes the comment button goes straight to adding a new comment rather than the post's comments. To reach the comments I have to press it again. But because it's not consistent sometimes I have to press it several times to reach the actual comments.

When I view a photo in connect, then touch the three dots and choose Download, where does connect save those files, and is there a way to choose that path?

I seem to be having an issue when I go to subscribe to a community within connect that the button says "unsubscribe" even when I am not yet subscribed. Is this a known issue?

Thanks for a great app. Miles better than Jerboa and better than the initial version of Sync! I have a feature request (apologies if I have misunderstood something):

I have multiple Lemmy accounts on multiple instances. If I want to browse in a public place then I 'hide' NSFW. If I want to browse NSFW then I will switch account but I then have to also unhide and unblur NSFW. Could it be possible for these settings to be set in the context of the account rather than the app so that switching accounts could also switch these settings?

I accidentally created a guest account by tapping "browse as guest" when trying to view an instance. This created a Guest_1 account in my list of instance accounts. Is there any way to remove this?

I really like how with Sync I can have a Hide button available on the card. Please let us customize the card buttons! (if it does exist I haven't found how to do it yet).

Is there a way to access preset themes for Connect? I thought I remembered there were settings in a non intuitive location (but maybe I'm remembering liftoff)

My self made day night themes are somehow completely bugged out and I'm looking to just wipe the app data and start over.

I've poked around and haven't found/figured out a way to change the arrow sizes on their own. I'd enjoy the ability to change the arrow sizes without modifying other values. If this is already possible I apologize for the post, if it is in the works then thanks! And of course, thanks for this wonderful app!

I configured default post sorting to 'new' but every time I start the app it sorts by 'active'. Is this a known issue?

Hey there I was wondering if there's any way to block words or phrases. If not then is there any plan to do so? I'm kinda sick of hearing about Musk and such

As the title says, I've set Frontpage as default. Now, whenever I load into the app, this is what my feed does. Note the hintInstance=null stuff at the top as well. If I click Frontpage from the left panel, it'll refresh normally and populate. I've tried setting any other as default, and the result is the same. Any ideas? Or is this something that's already being looked at?

With the option enabled, you can see post downvote tallies as well but it's displayed as a ratio. Unless I'm forgetting or just missed it, I haven't seen anyone comment on it either. Good or bad.

Personally, I don't like it and would prefer separate numbers for the upvotes and downvotes. The ratio stands out. Not just within Connect UI but also compared to other platforms' design. Separate numbers would make the UI more standard and also reduce the extra spacing to make room for the height difference.

If you completely disagree, that's totally valid and I'm actually more curious to see these comments, for perspective.

On my tablet, cards are too wide to be useful, especially if the post contains an image. An option to change the max card width (maybe a slider with a percentage setting?) would be useful.

Could it be possible to have the bottom action bar on the OP as we have on comments?

Or at least have swipe actions on OP in order to upvote

Not sure if this is a me thing, app thing, or instance/Lemmy thing. But when I open a picture, it's super pixelated and text is unreadable for anywhere from a few seconds to maybe 5 to 10, and then it loads and is readable. Has anyone else experienced this?

Just want to say thank you to Connect dev Kuro for making Connect for Lemmy. Amidst all this hype for Sync and Boost, Connect remains ad- and subscription-free without compromising quality. This app is bomb and I won't be veering off to competitors anytime soon. Bonus points for being Canadian too! 🍁 Thank you!

I get an error instead.

Right now if I block a user, it can disconnect my user within the app from portions of my user presence.

i.e. if I respond to a user in good faith, they respond in bad faith, I block them, and I want to revisit my good faith response in context, I am unable to do so via my profile. If the person I block is the top level comment, I am unable to view any content created within that comment tree because the top level comment is blocked.

I bring this up as Lemmy.world defederates from hexbear, and it has felt like there might be some brigading going on in relation to that.

This might be intentional, or not. Just voicing an opinion that I wish blocking a user would just make all of that users posts show as [blocked] and their username show as [blocked], with an option to temporarily display the blocked content, but still be unable to interact without physically unblocking them. If the "block" was more cosmetic and less functional, it wouldn't disconnect existing functionality (like trying to view my own posts in context).

When using Connect, I don't see all of the comments. I was just looking at a post where the counter showed over 40 comments, but I counted them and only saw about 16. Then I opened up the same post in my web browser and I was able to see all of the comments there.

When I try to reply to an existing comments I consistenly get "Error: language_not_allowed"

In a browser I get the option of setting a "Language" of my comment - which then allow me to post my comment. This option doesn't appear to exist in Connect?!?!

When you delete your comment, you will be backed out of the post and see your feed. The problem is if you have "mark posts as read" and "hide read posts" set to true, then the post is hidden and you can't correct what lever mistake you might have been trying to fix, like posting a top level thread rather than a reply.

Also when i was writing this post, I hit the "eye" to view the markdown version, but it just deleted my "Post body" instead of showing the markdown. When i edit this and hit the markdown button, it reverted any changes made to the post body

A good chunk of the communities I joined appear empty or sparsely populated, even though I can still follow their updates in other parts of the fediverse (kbin, squabbles etc.). Pushing refresh does nothing. Needless to say, that makes for a very unappealing Frontpage. Might it have something to do with the instances I've blocked or is it something else entirely? Thank you!
