Even at the "larger" size I have to squint to see the comnents. Way too small.

I'm tired of having my comments and posts deleted if misclicked once outside the keyboard layout while typing. Also confirmation before exiting and losing everything you typed while typing them as when it happens due misclicks. Please add drafts for comments and posts. it haapened to me 10 times and it's extremely frustrating and awful.

Downloading several very large images crashes the app. You might want to check filesizes and if a file is too large try to get a thumbnail instead. Then download the picture when the user selects it.

Hi, apologies in the long delay on this release. It took a couple days for Google to approve it and it went through a number of beta rounds before the bugs were ironed out. This release brings swipe customization and a couple new settings. As always thank you everyone for your feedback!

I have a one plus 8t, and I've noticed that instead of controlling my volume, the buttons will scroll through comments

When I select Frontpage, I see all sorts of communities, but I would expect it to show me just the communities I subscribe to. Can anyone tell me what the Frontpage is actually showing?

Alternatively, how do I see only posts from the communities I subscribe to without having to individually visit each one?

I was looking at a post when I noticed duplicates of a comment. Viewing the thread on mobile doesn't show the duplicates so I'm not sure if the duplicates were deleted and not shown on mobile or if Connect is creating the duplicates. At the time of posting this, the duplicated comment is with the [email protected] handle. This is on 1.0.106.

I was reading a post and tapped on the first link in the opening post and it sent me here for some weird reason. Not only is the post number off, the instance is entirely different. This is on 1.0.106.

I've just noticed I'm not seeing all the comments, I noticed on a post in Games which showed 24 comments but I could only see 9. Looking at it on the Lemmy website I can see one is posted from a different instance and I can't see that or the replies in Connect.

Maybe I've just not figured it out, but it's there a way to navigate the subs on a different instance without switching accounts? Like going directly to [email protected]?

Example, I'm on lemmy.ca but I want to subscribe to /c/linux on programming.dev. I'm struggling hard to navigate to this community, as it's not turning up in search either.

Edit: I found it on search, but it's made worse by the fact that search is not showing the instance of the communities, so you just end up with a bunch of communities and a subscriber count based on your local instance, which means pretty much nothing

I mean the thing that shows up to right side of the screen when scrolling. That would be nice to have in comments view to give visual information on how many comments left / total.

It might be useful in debugging too as you can see where it jumps when it glitches --> extra info for bug reports. Seems like kuro already fixed one comment section bug (long threads glitched) but still occasionally feels bit glitchy.

especially with all of the connectivity errors as things ramp up, it is very frustrating to write out a long post and then lose it when you submit it because you get some random error and have to try and remember everything you just said.

when posting or commenting you should stay and edit mode after hitting, submit until you get the confirmation of a successful post.

popping up which specific error you're getting is already happening and will be very helpful if things need to be edited as well.

Currently, there is only one setting for how posts are sorted by default (new/hot/top of the day/etc) which can be found under Settings > Posts.

Having separate settings for feeds (global/local/subscribed) and communities would be useful.

This would be primarily needed for particularly long posts that don't fully fit on the screen. Currently, I have to scroll all the way down to the bottom of the post ti find out if there are any comments I might want to read. This might only be an issue for those who have "Title above content" enabled in the settings, like me

Note: I might be somewhat confusing that I posted a Connect screenshot of a post including another Connect screenshot.

After making changes in the settings, Connect notifies me that the settings have been saved. When I exit the settings afterwards, the changes aren't applied. At other times, the changes are applied initially, but the app reverts back to the previous settings after closing and opening it again. Changing one setting at a time rather than making multiple changes seems to help a little bit, though I can't reliable verify that behaviour.

Simply put, an option for 2 or 3 columns for cards or full-width (technically half- or third-width now) would be nice to see more posts on screen at once. Taking inspiration from rif.

Sometimes I get language not allowed when I try to reply to a post or message. Seems odd given that the post is in English.

It'd be really nice to have an option to disable the animations in Connect!

I generally don't like them in any UI, and have all animations disabled for everyone else on my phone. It'd be great to disable them in Connect, also!

With RIF is Fun, if content cannot be submitted, or the user decides not to post yet, they can save their text as a draft in local storage. Later, they can retrieve said draft, edit the contents, and post it, if they'd like.

Would Connect entertain the idea of implementing drafts? I think it would be even more useful with Lemmy, because most Lemmy instances are operated by hobbyists without SLOs, and I have observed problems with posting much more frequently than Reddit.

Sometimes, when I submit a comment, the submission runs into an error, and the form disappears. This means that I lose my text altogether.

It would be great to ensure that content gets submitted correctly prior to closing forms!

This would be a local app-managed setting that adds a toggle to each community.

When enabled, this toggle allows all of the posts from that community to be combined with all other communities of identical name, from other instances under a common category name.

Because this is a per-community toggle, this lets you filter out communities of identical names from an instance you may be on, that you want to exclude from this category.

For example, enabling this setting on the identically named (and themed) communities of [email protected] and [email protected] would combined all content from both communities together under a single category called Fediverse.

If there were another instance with a community of the same name but of a different topic, then leaving this toggle disabled for that community instance would exclude it from this category.

Categories can then be treated like communities in the subscribed community list, under a separate section just like how communities are split between All/Local.

As an additional bonus, the app could ask the user if they would like to consolidate identically named communities. It would then provide a list of these identically named communities, with checkmarks beside them to quickly toggle this setting.

To reduce spam, if a user wanted to submit a post to this category, they would have to specifically select the community instance they wanted to post to.

Lastly, if this idea of more app-managed consolidation is taken to the extreme, then perhaps allowing users to combine multiple accounts together across each instance could be possible. Where even if two instances defederate, if the user has an account on both instances, they can still view the content as normal. Perhaps this could be called global mode, where accounts only interact with the specific instance they exist on, but combines local feeds from each account/instance together.

I had written a rather lengthy response to a post, and put quite a bit of effort in my argument. When I submitted the reply I got a "language not allowed" error, and everything I wrote was lost.

I think an error when posting something should not result in the screen changing back and losing everything written. The error should be displayed and the user allowed to fix the problem or somehow allowed to save the post locally, e.g. by copying and pasting it somewhere else.

Others are either too slow, are missing key features or just don't feel quite right. I've got Summit/Thunder/Jeroba/Voyager/Liftoff all installed, and I check their updates as they come in, but I always go back to Connect ❤ 🇨🇦

Is anyone else having the same problem? The app was updated three days ago, but yesterday it refused work at all. It crashes at startup. Nothing loads up. My android is updated at 13.
