I added a keyword to be blocked but it's still showing posts where that word shows up. Not sure if it's because the keyword is in descriptions and/or comments instead of just the title.

Sorry if this has been asked before I couldn't figure out how to search the community either.

Thanks for your help on either of the two issues! 😂

Edit: it seems I needed to subscribe before I could search, and it took me a minute figure out how to subscribe....

Anyway I'm learning. Still looking for a way to auto-sort by new if that's an option.

Cheers

Edit again: I figured it out. It was in the settings all along. Might as well leave this post up in case any one else has this question.

Solution

Settings > general > posts > default sort

And

Settings > general > comments > default sort

For example, I'm on Lemmy.world, I can view posts by Local but I haven't figured out how to view all communities on Local.

I see value in being able to do the same for any other instances I choose to search for too.

I'd appreciate any help in doing this if it's already possible or even an explanation to why it's a potentially dumb idea 😅

I recently switched to Voyager, but I seem not to be able to load any catbox images or videos.

I've tried it with and without VPN - no luck.

Anyone else having this issue? Or dare I hope a workaround?

New Lemmy/Voyager user.. Is there an option to highlight new comments on a post I previously opened/visited? (Doesn't allow me to upload a photo due to my account being too new; but hoping my question makes sense)

Edit: also wanted to add that I really love the app. Thanks a ton to the dev(s)

I was getting a connection error when upvoting on lemmy.ml so I tried to sign out and sign in and now I’m getting a connection error when signing in. I’m able to do all of this via the web. Voyager has worked perfectly until now.

Voyager works fine with my other account on sh.itjust.works.

Anyone else having this problem?

Hello!

I’m posting this from my second account. I’m having issues with my main on .ml (my world account would be my main but I signed up during the Reddit API thing so I didn’t understand Lemmy or Fediverse anything back then) but anyways for the past 2 days I couldn’t save or upvote anything. Today I tried signing out and then back in. However once I signed out I was unable to sign back in. Is this an issue with Voyager or .ml?

Thank you for any help!

This one has been bugging me for awhile, so I don't know when it started. But images in-line in the text portion of posts show at their original resolution, and do not scale down.

Example: https://50501.chat/post/19511

Etc

Possibly related, images that are wider than they are tall don't scale down in comments.

It’s absolutely obnoxious having to scroll through the miles of auto-mod nonsense and “cleanup” removals. There’s a few in particular that are spammed constantly.

Can we maybe get a feature to filter what is displayed in the modlogs so that we can use it as a proper reference tool?

I keep getting this message when trying to post pictures, both in threads and private. A problem accured, your account is too new to post pictures.

Any solve to this?

Curious if Voyager has options for the following that were available on the Reddit app:

  1. A down arrow/next top level comment button to quickly navigate through comments. In the Reddit app this a floating down arrow button

  2. pull down on your feed to refresh and see new posts

Not sure if I’m missing them or if they don’t exist

Hi. I created a lemm.ee account and hope for a Reddit alt. I came to Reddit from StumbleUpon and Digg so I’m open to migrating to the next good thing.

I paid for Apollo and loved it. And I’ve found Voyager to be pretty close. So that’s cool.

I was able to migrate my list of subscriptions and find many similar communities and I continue to explore and subscribe to active communities on Lemmy.

But a few questions I can’t find answers to:

  1. Can I create a multireddit in Lemmy/Voyager? Like I want to keep NSFW out of my home feed in case my kids look over my shoulder while I’m casually scrolling, but would like to save some favorite nsfw subs in one place for “future convenience.”

  2. Lots of posts say, “Failed to Load Media.” Is that a common Lemmy thing? Or Voyager? Or my device?

  3. Do I need to subscribe to communities on multiple instances? Like I see there are a lot of Technology communities across various servers. Do those aggregate to one place? Or do I need multiple subscriptions until I find the instance that serves up the best content.

Thanks for your help!

There are a lot of options to change swipe actions, but I use my phone with my left hand and often try to swipe right to upvote, but when I do, half of the time it instead it goes back. Can we have an option to disable swipe-right-to-go-back?

Maybe I'm being stupid but where are the notification settings?

I cant see anything in the app, in droid settings it looks as though the permissions haven't been requested?

Am on GrapheneOS if that helps.

When I exit voyager all of my settings get reverted to default and have to restore from my backup several times a day. This has been happening since the latest update. This the android version. And it's happening on all of my devices old and new from Android 8 to Android 14

When I build with what is on the main branch, I get an error about invalid CFBundleShortVersionString, which appears to come from here:

ios/App/App/Info.plist

    <key>CFBundleShortVersionString</key>
    <string>$(MARKETING_VERSION)</string>

I can workaround / hack a fix by modifying the Info.plist file with something like:

    <key>CFBundleShortVersionString</key>
    <string>1.0.0</string>

But I assume that's not the right thing to do. What is the correct way to set CFBundleShortVersionString or $(MARKETING_VERSION) ?

It would be nice if there was a way reduce the load on instances in regards to images. This could be either be done by converting the image to webp to make it smaller

ExampleHow Tesseract does it:

Or by implementing a setting for alternative image hosts (imgur, catbox.moe for example)

Pretty much the title. And on settings i can't find where that was shown. Happened while I was using voyager iirc

While scrolling through the feed, sometimes if I ever try to scroll up to the post before, it triggers the "pull down to refresh" feature. When it starts to happen, no matter how slowly I scroll up, it always triggers it. Weirdly enough, it seems to happen more on the All feed rather than the Home feed.

If this is not a bug, could we have an option to adjust the strength of this feature, or disable it outright? It's annoying to lose my place every so often.

OS: Android 14
Device: Pixel 8

edit: I'm using Android, v 2.24.3

When entering text for a reply, under the 3 dot menu to the right of the text formatting options

Problem 1) There are 3 identical-looking options for "Strikethrough"

The first one actually does Strikethrough

The second "Strikethrough" actually does Code formatting

The third "Strikethrough" actually does Spoiler formatting

Recommend correctly naming the second and third options, and changing appropriate icons to the left.

Problem 2) "Unordered List" and multiple "Ordered List" options look virtually identical.

I know those are the Common Mark terms for these things, but it could be visually clearer.

May I suggest adding more alternative names to make them clearer

  • one thing
  • another thing

The above is also called a "Bullet Points" or a "Bulleted List"

  1. number one
  2. number two

1st "Ordered List": The above is called a "Numbered List"

Problem 3)

@ some text

2nd "Ordered List": I'm not sure what the above does. Maybe this was supposed to invoke start-of-line Lemmy user pulldown reference? Like @[email protected]

! some text

3rd "Ordered List": I'm not sure what the above does either. Maybe this was supposed to invoke start-of-line Lemmy community pulldown reference? Like [email protected]

Voyager implement all searches that lemmy exposes, but this one is something else. When in a browser with a post loaded, I can search the post and its comments for any text with the browser “search this page” feature.

I wanted a text search on Voyager in a similar fashion, i.e. client side full text search on what’s on screen at the moment.

I just learned about image hover text in another thread and noticed that voyager currently doesn't implement showing it.

![alt text](https://lemm.ee/pictrs/image/2984903c-19e2-4f9f-a233-a2b03b9048a2.png "hover text")

alt text

Tapping the image to enlarge it will show the alt text. This is correct if there is no hover text (which is not used all that often). If a hover text is given in the markdown, it should take precedence over the alt text when viewing the image.

Thank you.

I’ve finally swapped from lemmy.world for my main account, but I’ve noticed that some instances don’t show downvotes (blahaj.zone). I completely understand their rationale behind it, but for posts, I need it, as it conveys when something is misleading (like a YSK post a couple days ago, with 1.1k upvotes, but the downvotes were 300 on lemmy.world). I would like to use that as my main account, but it would be nice to pull in the upvote/downvote info from another account that I’m logged into for that post. I know I can change accounts easily when commenting, so that may be what I do for a while, but I’ll have to manage subscriptions to be the same across both accounts if I’m ever wanting to comment on my PC.

For now until that’s a possibility, this is my main account.
