I know this isn't Android per se. But Google has now opened up Pebble OS. And it seems like there will be a pebble revival. I just want a pebble time round 2.

Still in testing, Google Messages has made a small color tweak to the upcoming redesign of RCS read receipts that makes them bolder.

This year has been a milestone for us, with significant strides in decentralizing app distribution, expanding the F-Droid ecosystem, and solidifying our infrastructure. All of these advancements were made possible thanks to donations, grants, our volunteers and regular contributors. So thank you again to everyone who helped make 2024 another great year for F-Droid. Now let’s take a closer look at what we accomplished.

RiMusic won't play or download anything new. Can only play previously downloaded songs.

Does anyone have any solutions or even knowledge of the cause of this new problem (began to notice this a day of two ago)

Edit: NewPipe having same issue.

2nd edit: NewPipe update solved the problem for NewPipe. Hope riMusic provides one soon.

New implementation of YouTube crack down?

Hi guys.

I have an android head unit for my car that only manages multimedia, navigation and stuff. it also has multiple physical buttons and knobs. It’s offbrand so can name the particular brand or model.

can I for example upgrade the OS?

Just randomly sharing my experience here. My sister told me a few weeks ago she was going to change for a new phone (a Motorola, she likes AOSP-like experience). I noticed that her new phone wouldn't get a jack.

"Yeah, I know, I hope I can make it work with a USB-adapter". She has nice headphones that she likes to use, so USB-C earplugs were not an option.

Fast forward to today, she told me the adapter she got starts to malfunction:

  • she has to twitch the jack in the adapter for the thing to work
  • when she plugs the adapter in, Google Assistant takes over and randomly starts skipping songs.

She's now considering getting wireless earbuds, but she's not a fan of having to recharge them to be able to use them, and is also cautious about the e-waste potential.

I have a Moto G84 which does the job. It's not the best phone in the world, I'm eyeing a flagship from time to time and keep the G84 as a "connected walkman", but would it break today, I would probably get a G55 (https://www.notebookcheck.net/Motorola-Moto-G55-smartphone-review-Inexpensive-doesn-t-have-to-be-boring.932900.0.html)

That's it for me, do you have similar experiences to share?

Although it's only been a few weeks since Google Photos started testing its new Quick Edit feature, the app may soon give users the option to disable it.

Hello everyone,

[email protected] was initially created to avoid getting [email protected] to get overwhelmed.

Last week, [email protected] has 4 users, so it seems like activity pretty much halted.

Should we close it and redirect to [email protected] to consolidate activity?

Currently, you are unable to view the APKMirror web page. Instead, you get the following message shown in the screenshot below.

Tiktok downloads are currently blocked in the United States due to the Protecting Americans from Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act.

The link in this statement leads to the following page, containing the bill that was passed:

https://www.congress.gov/bill/118th-congress/house-bill/7521

This sets a dangerous precedent going forward for the Android community which sideloads applications onto their phones, being that APKMirror is the largest mirror of APKs for Android phones. It's also possible for them to add more apps to be included under this bill, and possible for another bill to be passed which may act as an even more broad blanket to target specific groups of people (e.g. LGBTQ+, people of color), messaging applications that are truly secure (e.g. Signal), and so on.

Then of course there a very real possibility of our president forcing the integration of software updates into both Android (and possibly even iOS smartphones) that can forcibly remove applications for the "sake of national security".

I'm interested in Android itself. The software. Custom ROMs, apps, security and privacy, beta reviews, upcoming features, whatever.
That's what the sidebar of this community also says.

However, my timeline is full of

"Rumors say, manufacturer XY might might bring out a new foldable, this time with a higher refresh rate display! 😳😱

or something like that.

I already have a phone. A very new one. I won't buy one in at least the next 7 years. Especially not a new fancy gimmicky toy like those ones.

Is this on purpose? Do you like what you see?
