This app can replace the Google TTS on your device. You can choose from many different voices and languages when the app is launched for the first time.

I hope, we can add it to F-Droid soon.

I learn here the Simple App Suite went closed source, are the Fossify apps the Open Source continuation?

Hey everyone,

I made an open-source alternative to "Google Messages for web" that utilizes WebRTC data channels to show your phone's text messages in browser.

It's an Android app you can install on your phone, with a server that uses Socket.io for signaling and coturn for the TURN server. You can also self-host it if you prefer. All source code is in the repository.

Github repository

There was no simple and working open source calorie tracker I liked out there, so I created Simple Calorie Tracker. I wanted a beautiful design so I copied the UI of the very famous app Yazio. It uses USDA and openfoodfacts apis for food. The apk is available on the github repo releases. I am planning to get it on fdroid!

It will need to download new models. With these it can now transcribe to any language and translate to English upon request.

Hey everyone! As I work on the FOSSdroid.org website, I am needing suggestions. If you have anything interesting you'd like to see featured, please comment below or open a GitHub issue or pull request!

I have created two issues on the repository detailing goals for browser and messenger tables based on those published by DivestOS. Seeing as they're now defunct, I would like to start maintaining our own lists here!

Browser Tables (Issue #1)

Messenger Tables (Issue #2)

If you have any suggestions or comments, please either create a GitHub Issue or comment here!

I expect to have the CI/CD pipeline completed and the website published within the next week or so! Until then, please feel free to toy around with it locally using mdbook (cargo install mdbook) or browse the GitHub repository. It isn't as nice looking, but it should be fully browsable and appear similarly to the final website.

Feel free to create a PR or Issue if you have ideas! Any accepted PR will get you added to the contributor list. You may list your name, Reddit username, GitHub account, or website link, or any combination of those!

Now that Mull is discontinued and Fennec F-Droid may be too (or at least get slower updates, slower than they have already been sometimes), what's the best option?

I have heard that Iceraven is good, but that it has non-FOSS elements. Can anyone please clarify, or link me to information, on what parts exactly are not FOSS? Thanks for reading!

Hey, i just finished debloating my samsung S23 with Universal debloater and some abd commands. I did not get rid of google services but got rid of everything i could except maps and gmail.

Uninstalled chrome and even play store that i replaced with aurora store and f droid and firefox.

The only thing im missing is a keyboard. For now the phone has the default samsung one that i dont like.

Ive always used Gboard that is very good. But for privacy reason i wanted to know if a privacy focused forked version existed ?

Or another completely different keyboard ?

I want the same good typing experience as GBoard, predictive text that learns new words that i use (but just keeping that in the phone storage instead of cloud?).

Also with a swiftkey alternative because i also love using the swiftkey feature.

Thanks !

License - GPL-V3

Hello! Recently, I’ve been building my own free app blocker because I couldn’t find one for Android that I truly trusted.

Features:

  1. App Blocking: Block access to selected apps for better focus.
  2. Partial Blocking: Allow using other features of the app while blocking YouTube Shorts or Instagram Reels.
  3. Keyword Blocking: Block custom keywords in browsers. If typed, the website is closed and redirected to another site (with an inbuilt list of adult keywords).
  4. Focus Mode: Block selected apps for a set period or configure it to turn on regularly at specific times.
  5. Cheat Hours: Allow access to specific apps during designated hours each day.
  6. Anti-Uninstall: Prevent uninstallation for a set number of days or require a password for uninstallation.
  7. Scroll Counter: Track the number of Instagram/Facebook Reels, TikToks, and YouTube Shorts you scroll through.
  8. No Spyware and Ad-Free: Completely free from spyware and ads, ensuring a safe experience.
  9. Extremely lightweight with a download size of only 3 mb!

It’s designed to help you manage your screen time and stay focused, without being intrusive. Plus, it’s completely free to use!
