I am searching for a smartwatch that has only FOSS programs. Which one is the best at the moment? Also a bit of a unique question, but do they have a gallery application similar to the Samsung ones?

edit: or is there a way to open a Samsung one?

This results in excessive load on the primary servers.

They also lack delta index update support which results in increased load on mirrors as well as primaries.

Please switch to the official F-Droid client.:

Hello everyone!

Over the last year we built an open-source, cross-platform 2FA app that offers end-to-end encrypted backups.

ente Auth – Screenshots

We're the team behind Ente Photos, and we built Auth because we couldn't find a FOSS authenticator app that worked across platforms.

We decided to offer E2EE backups for free to give back to the dev community we've borrowed a lot from.

You can download Auth from

You can also view your codes on the web @ auth.ente.io

Last, but certainly not the least, here's the source: github.com/ente-io/auth

Please let us know what you think!

I'm looking for something like maybe SmartSwitch on Samsung. I have a Pixel phone running a custom OS, so was wondering if there is any FOSS app that is good for a full phone backup to PC?

Also one that can help me clone my phone to another, but that one is less important and urgent rn.

I just open-sourced my pet project Play Deals. Play Deals lists the paid apps that have some discount in their price or are 100% free on the Google Play Store.

Google removed it because of the ad position violation, finally got it reinstated a few months back and decided to open-source it as the ad revenue was just trash. This is a new version that I rewrote from scratch using Kotlin Multiplatform. It supports Android, iOS and Desktops (Mac, Linux and Windows). There are not many open-source KMP apps. I hope it fills some of the gaps.

Alongside the app, I've also open-sourced the backend. It is also rewritten fully in Kotlin and uses Vert.x.

At the moment, it only supports Android apps but long term the plan is to list IOS apps and any other apps on any platform with some discounts.

Hello all!

Also in v5.3:

  • group improvements – you can now find groups via directory service (BETA) – open link in the app.
  • simplified incognito mode
  • better app responsiveness, stability and 40% reduced memory usage.
  • new privacy settings: show last messages & save draft.

We've also added 6 new interface languages thanks to our users - Arabic, Bulgarian, Finnish, Hebrew, Thai and Ukrainian.

Read more in the post:

Install the apps via downloads page.

Please ask any questions about SimpleX Chat in the comments! Some common questions:

Was SimpleX Chat audited?

Why user IDs are bad for privacy?

How SimpleX delivers messages without user profile IDs?

How SimpleX is different from Session, Matrix, Signal, etc.?

Just wondering if there's an app that counts the days from/to a certain date. Ideally in year/month/day format rather than just the total number of days. It should also a widget feature.

This is a proprietary app:

Different apps may put downloads in their own folders in android. Is there an (foss) app to move certain files automatically? For example, move all images from those different places to one and only Images-folder.

I found only this Auto-Move app from 2014 and it's not available anymore...

Was looking FolderSync Pro alternative and came across this app Round Sync. Does it provide the same functionality that FolderSync Pro does?

I love Kiss but I also love my folders. I'm looking for a foss launcher that has these features: -- Allows you to rename apps -- Allows you to change icons to something else from the icon pack you have -- Allows you to remove certain apps from the launcher all together -- Allows you to put folders on the home page -- Allows you to switch your search engine to duckduck.go or something like that if with a search bar.

I tried tags, no thank you.

Thanks for the suggestion if you suggested anything in case I'm away and can't reply! :)

Is anyone still using this? It had a nice reputation when it was not bought by androidacy. It's a nightmare having to download anything androidacy related having to go through countless ads and still cant download it. It's just ridiculous.

I'm looking for an alternative to Markor. Something with tagging/grouping, dark mode features. It needs to look good. I'd use Notesnook and and Logseq all the time, but they're not lightweight enough for me. I've searched a lot, but maybe someone can suggest something I've overlooked.

I would like to see which apps are connecting to the internet, when and how much data they've used during the connection. Which app offers this?

I don't like to rely on a browser's bookmarks or tabs because it involves more navigating to the app than I would like to quickly access frequently used sites. Currently using both Firefox and Duckduckgo but if I open a bookmark that was added to the homepage, it gets added to the session so I accumulate a bunch of duplicate sites for the persistent sessions and they also clutter the tabs that I do want to remain in the session. Ideally Firefox can handle this as I use it exclusively for my desktop system but e.g. there doesn't seem to be a way to "open a bookmark" in a private window that doesn't remain in the session.

Is there a lightweight browser that lets you add homepage browser bookmarks where opening them does not add them to the session?

Hi, to optimize Battery life, I've kept to test :

  • Greenify (closed source)
  • Hail
  • Freeze You
  • SuperFreezZ

Latter three are opensource.

My fav being SuperFreezZ, because it's simple and UI looks like firewall ones.

(I've discardeed Freeze You from my own ranking,

just because it also provides some tasker capability (good addition) and/but :

  • ! its docs are half english half chinese,!<

  • event triggers are limited :
    • on screen on, on screen off,
    • when open applications, when leave applications,
    • when freeze applications, when unfreeze applications
    • ... not "when last bluetooth device disconnected" for instance...
  • docs ( ) doesn't tell what to put in "additional parameters"
  • task is preset on okuf by default, which doesn't make any sense to me given the docs)

However :

  • I don't know whether SuperFreezZ is the best in term of performance, we should test it against competition
  • Others provide additional capabilities, example : app hiding in launcher and app list (Hail)
    • and a more automatized blacklist/whitelist app selection. Example : "whitelist all apps that make use of persistent notifications", etc. Whereas on SuperFreezZ, one has to manually whitelist the firewall/DNS filter, and status icon indicators, to never go to sleep.
  • Would also be good to compare with stock/barebone android battery optimization policy. For instance, on android12, samsung UI, a phone has : settings > device care > battery > background usage limits > "Put unused apps to sleep" toggler.
  • Most importantly, I couldn't make battery performance tests myself, as I only have one daily driver phone, and my days are too random to compare one day of battery use with another :(
    • if someone here happens to frequently receive phones to review and play with, it would help us, thanks ! :)

I downloaded both the apps, and enjoy them, but dont know much about them. They look a lot like the google apps, just with the tracking parts stripped out, far as I can tell

I got them on advise from another post on here. Just curious if there is more to them

Hello, I would like to know if there already exist an app with the following features (or if it has to be made) :

I would like to "pair" eg. with my partner in situations like mass transit or shopping or other crowded situations, where we would booth plug our earpieces in and are basically isolated together from our surroundings. The earpieces shield us from the noises and the Bluetooth would connect us (like in a call) but the data stream should not go through the whole internet but just be on our Bluetooth (or even some wifi solution).

Can someone help me out and point me to the right app or somehere to create an app like that?

To turn off bluetooth of the smartphone when last bluetooth device disconnected : (exists on fdroid)

It doesn't work and didn't ask for any permission upon install. Tried allowing unrestricted battery access : see FAQ here +

Went in settings > device care > battery > background usage limits > never sleeping apps > but Greentooth isn't even listed for me to add it...

PS : also I can't post any issue, since gitlab now runs on cloudflare servers, and cloudflare blocks visitors who use anonymizing web browsers... If someone could post an issue for us I'd be glad thanks
