It's the united DM curse. Be transformative for half a season and then fall off a cliff.
Serious answer - his form declined after those two suspensions towards the end of the season. Then this season he was sluggish and that combined with new tactics lead to gigantic defensive fragility overall. It was so bad ETH has reverted back to double pivot for now (also because of injuries).
