From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Linux is a family of open source Unix-like operating systems based on the Linux kernel, an operating system kernel first released on September 17, 1991 by Linus Torvalds. Linux is typically packaged in a Linux distribution (or distro for short).
Distributions include the Linux kernel and supporting system software and libraries, many of which are provided by the GNU Project. Many Linux distributions use the word "Linux" in their name, but the Free Software Foundation uses the name GNU/Linux to emphasize the importance of GNU software, causing some controversy.

It would help if we knew what your use case is. What do you do with phone? Do you depend on some special apps for messaging or something? It may also be valuable to know where you're located? US? Europe? Asia?
I'm a simple kind of guy. I would just use it for calls, texts, videos, Lemmy, and to check emails. I'm in the US.
My current $150 phone has been perfect until one day over the past three weeks it just started sucking at everything. I suspect foul play and wanted to workaround it. The suggestions of alternate OSs for phones have been great but I didn't realize that I would have to request permission from the phone manufacturer due to it being a Verizon phone.
Just thought of it but have you tried a factory reset? Maybe something just got off kilter and that would give you a blank slate.
I just did one and it is working a lot better. Still, a good reason to be preparing as my phone's days ate numbered lol
