Let's say you have an old email you want to delete at a privacy-invasive provider. Cool, you know the password. But they refuse to delete your account due to lack of authentication (I fail). I used a fake name in the email but there is still personal info associated with the account. How can I delete it without giving more personal info? Or just forget it? Is it worth pay a website to delete my email?

If you are in the EU you can send them a GDPR request and ask them to remove your account and all associated data. Look for a contact email address in their privacy policy.

My advice when doing something risky or privacy invasive is always, use a VM. Make A VM, do all of the steps to delete the Email, and then delete the VM. That way it is completely seperated from your regular machine. Its not perfect but it really the best you can do.

You can pay websites to delete your email account?

I know one but they require an outlook or gmail account so is not even worth mentioning.

You can use openssl, curl, expect and spawn for this. Example: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/49361518/delete-mail-from-bash-command-line

You need to flag for deletion first and expunge then.

Interesting, I'll try that! Do you need to be connected to the webmail/emailclient?

"You need to flag for deletion first and expunge then." How would one do? thanks

There's a script linked in that stackoverflow answer for Gmail specifically. With small modifications it should work for all mail providers. I can't help you more than that really.
