It's nice to see that Mozilla has our backs on this. I always have been a happy Firefox user and now I am happier.

The sad part is that Mozillas position doesn't really matter with Firefox's market share.
And if it did, let’s not forget how much Google funds Mozilla.
Google will not end that deal like that. Even though firefox is a browser with small marketshare, being the default searchengine has its own merits. As soon as google stepsdown , microsoft (bing ) or other search engines will compete for that. Plus , having google in more places will help them lessen the grips of anti-trust lawsuits too.

This API offers nothing to the end user, and can only be used to restrict the user. It is not in users' interests to implement it.
Furthermore, this specification is vague and the underlying mechanism is unclear.
