Should an independent Cymru join NATO? (bylines.cymru)

In a recent article, Jeremy Brookman argued that Cymru should join NATO. And several articles have been published that attempt to identify the military resources Cymru should have on the basis of comparison to other small European nations.

Such assertions are, in my view, premature and misguided. As Carl von Clausewitz famously observed, war is a tool used to achieve national goals once diplomatic methods have failed. We should plan for an independent Cymru on that basis.

what military assets does wales have independent of the UK?

As someone who's only been to wales once in 2009, I don't know much about their military, but judging from the flag I'm willing to bet it involves dragons. They'd do excellent as close air support, I'm sure.

Wales is currently not allowed to have any assets separate to the UK.

This author has a something of a column on Bylines though, and his work is centred around laying something of a framework for when Wales does achieve its independence, rather than what it could possibly do currently.
