My 7 year old who loves Game Builder Garage and Super Mario Maker, took a book out from the library about coding with python. At the back there was a blurb about scratch and he wanted to try it but we don't really have a pc. So I pulled my grandpa's old tower out of the closet and hooked it up to our TV and an old kano keyboard/track pad and I'm trying to set up scratch for him.

The first thing I tried to do (after resetting the password) was boot Kano OS from the SD card that came with our now inexplicably broken Raspberry Pi which has all kinds of cool coding games, including scratch, already on it. But it doesn't seem like I can find the SD card in the BIOS menu. I tried a couple of options, but nothing happened and I had to reset the computer.

Next I tried just using the web version of scratch, but the page containing the application won't load. Everything else does, youtube, some browser games, strangely not reddit, and not scratch.

I downloaded an old version of scratch from their website, which worked, but it doesn't match up with the tutorials.

I downloaded Scratux in the software manager, which seemed to work, but when I click on the icon the application doesn't open. I don't even get an error message.

I'm using a Compac Pressario PC - SR5552F. It says: AMD Phenom X3?8450 Memory 3072 MB HD: 500GB Nvidia GeForce 9300 GE

It's running Linux Mint 19.3 Tricia

What is likely to be the cause of the problem, and realistically is there anything I can do to improve it?
