A community/support group for chronically ill people. While anyone is welcome, our number one priority is keeping this a safe space for chronically ill people.

This is a support group, not a place for people to spout their opinions on disability.

Rules

  1. Be excellent to each other

  2. Absolutely no ableism. This includes harmful stereotypes: lazy/freeloaders etc

  3. No quackery. Does an up-to date major review in a big journal or a major government guideline come to the conclusion you’re claiming is fact? No? Then don’t claim it’s fact. This applies to potential treatments and disease mechanisms.

  4. No denialism or minimisation This applies challenges faced by chronically ill people.

  5. No psychosomatising psychosomatisation is a tool used by insurance companies and governments to blame physical illnesses on mental problems, and thereby saving money by not paying benefits. There is no concrete proof psychosomatic or functional disease exists with the vast majority of historical diagnoses turning out to be biomedical illnesses medicine has not discovered yet. Psychosomatics is rooted in misogyny, and consisted up until very recently of blaming women’s health complaints on “hysteria”.

Did your post/comment get removed? Before arguing with moderators consider that the goal of this community is to provide a safe space for people suffering from chronic illness. Moderation may be heavy handed at times. If you don’t like that, find or create another community that prioritises something else.

It was just a matter of time (and don't be mistaken, he will act on it), but the general population sadly won't give a fuck (that's the only purpose we serve those in power, always have - a litmus test to see how comfortable the general population is with inflicting suffering on to and even exterminating groups of people), if anything a lot more than just maga people will be cheering this shit on, or at the very least "passively" supporting it (even if they don't think they are, saying shit like "stupid people shouldn't breed"* is the same eugenicist shit).

The usage of IQ as a measure of anything at all is in itself deeply eugenicist (so ableist, but also racist, classist, and sexist), but try telling people that and see how quickly you get dogpiled by so so many desperate to cling on to the sense of superiority an arbitrary number (which often came from an online quiz, though tbf, those are about as valid as a professionally administered one) gives them. It's so problematic on so many levels, and serves no purpose but to divide and oppress.

I agree, it really is fucking scary..

Sorry, I really wasn’t trying to punch down. What they’re proposing is abhorrent. I just still, after all this time, am in awe of the lack of self awareness from these dudes. They think they’re genetically superior geniuses while they’re middling, at best, and have many kids with many women.

The part that made me feel gross about your comment was the fact that at least one of the people you referred to is a trans woman, and has been disowned by her father. It's literally the reason that Musk became rabidly transphobic.

I’m not saying that I wish Elon’s children were never born. I’m really not saying anything about them at all, good bad or otherwise. (although at least 3 of the 5 Trump kids are pretty awful people).

I’m saying that it’s hypocritical for someone to talk about sterilizing people they view as undesirable intellectually while 1) being kind of a dumbass and 2) having 10+ kids that they likely neglect. The fact that one of Elon’s kids happens to be a (by all accounts lovely) trans woman has nothing to do with it.
