I'm mostly anarchist, but I'm pretty financially comfortable, e.g., I'm employed in a professional job, own my own home with no mortgage, own my own cars without loans, etc. I'm still opposed to authoritarianism though, and also capitalism in general, even if I don't see good ways to get away from either entirely.

We could, as a species, do some cool shit if we weren't so obsessed with personal profit and power. Like not genociding ourselves with destroying our only planet.

Yeah... :(

Reminds me of the potential solution to the Fermi paradox, where all life that has evolved to the point where humanity is now ends up killing itself off through habitat destruction prior to being capable of being an interstellar species.

Horseshit. The rich love government when it can be bought and benefit themselves, and they hate it otherwise.

Top right corner is 1 guy is rich and loves the government.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 4 days ago

Yea this graph is not that good.

Rich people are not a hive mind, as far as I know.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Nor do they all benefit from the same government controls. That's why each rich personhas their own preferences.

But all rich people prefer the government they can own, and oppose the government that seeks to prevent them from taking advantage of everyone else.

I'm just saying that not all rich people are as cynical as you are. Your political beliefs are not defined by your social position.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Yes they all are. You don't get to be rich without cynically exploiting people. Nobody deserves a billion dollars.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I would say the cynical people are the minority - most rich people do not believe they are doing anything wrong, and do believe that capitalists deserve what they have. Out of rich people, the ones that have a billion dollars are a minority, but I reckon that applies to them as well.

This is "bourgeois morality", it is quite popular, and I should say a lot of people do not agree that rich people do not deserve their money.

Rich people are also the minority. You're not wrong that the capitalist does not see anything wrong with their value proposition, but there is no profit without loss. Economics is always a zero sum game, when time is factored in. Anyone amassing wealth is taking value from the lives of others, without exception. The capitalist is someone who uses their existing wealth to leverage unequal value from business transactions. That's just how it works, and it doesn't work any other way.

Most people are cool with it, because they think someday they might be on the handle side of the lemon press instead of inside the basket. Almost everyone is wrong about that.

That's what happens when you only talk to leftists: you forget how other people think.

How does this distinguish between hating the current government corruption but loving the promise of cooperative self governance?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 3 days ago

What's it mean when I'm on the line in the middle but about halfway down to the bottom?

Trump Is rich and hates government but wants to be king

Rich and Love Government is Centrist.

neo-Facists hate the current government in most places. Except in the US where they’ve basically done a coup.

Except in the US where they’ve basically done a coup.

I believe that's the typical hope of authoritarians, tbf
