I was concerned because its tail looks matted or dirty or something, but it looks like the upper part of their tails are black, and this one appears to have a tracking device on it. Apparently their numbers are dwindling, but researchers are looking to find out about their lifestyles to help preserve their habitat and do some reintroduction. So overall not wonderful news, but this lil one is probably healthy and will be helping build resilience for the species.

I need to remember to add article links when I share one of their pictures. You're correct, that is a gps tracker on its tail.

Though I appreciate the link, no pressure (unless it's a sub rule). I enjoy seeing this community pop up in my feed, so if it's gonna make you less likely to post due to the added barrier, no stress. I appreciate you putting the name in the title. I'd not heard of them before and now I have! Such cute lil eggs. My comment wasn't meant for you, just for other people who might stumble upon this post and also have the same thought as me.

No worries, it's easy enough!

I don't even know what specie it is. I would say "bilby" but that is the first time ever that I read this name.

Admittedly, same. I had to look it up too.
