I air fried chicken thighs for the first time today, out of convenience, I'm a fairly experienced cook and normally pan sear them instead. For some reason, while everything else tasted amazing and the skin was perfectly crisp, the skin had a weird off taste that was "chickeny" but in a bad way, sort of like how you don't want fish to be "fishy". Anyone know what caused this? For reference I've split a value pack of bone in, skin on chicken thighs and froze them. Other batches from the same pack were also frozen and thawed overnight in my fridge but the skin didn't taste this way. Any insight?
