I'm sucking at it. I keep sneaking over there to check for new modmails begging to be "let in" to the subreddits etc.

Uninstalled the app, blackholed the domain in my Pi-hole servers, and removed the domain from my web search results on my SearxNG server. I use Wireguard from my phone when out and about, so I'm always usnig Pi-hole and SearxNG.
and removed the domain from my web search results on my SearxNG server
How did you do this? Didn't realize that was possible.> pp, blackholed the domain in my Pi-hole servers, and removed the domain from my web search results on my SearxNG serve

Yep - great feature. I've been excluding Facebook and the other socials for a while now.
Not having a mobile app will automatically curtail a lot of my usage. I'll probably keep using the desktop site though until they kill off old Reddit.
I just deleted/hid the Apollo app and put Mlem in the same spot in my app list. Now when my muscle memory goes to open up Reddit, Iβm on lemmy instead
So is mlem just for apple? I tried searching for it and only found jerboa which I do like just fine.
I added an iOS shortcut automation to my iPhone. If I open Apollo, the shortcut runs and sends me to Mlem, then pops up a reminder.
Iβve exported my posts and comments. Just need to get my subscriptions list and Iβm done.
I plan to overwrite my comments and posts with a text that explains why the original is removed. That way, for as long as Reddit survives, thereβs a chance someone will see it and learn about how not to screw over your user base.
Not avoiding yet, but I just cut my subscribed subreddits by about half. Should reduce my time there.
Reddit has a ton of useful knowledge on it, why would I avoid it? It is not just a platform to doomscroll on... As a social media platform it's as good as dead for me, but it is still a hyper forum with many worthwhile communities.
