Canada aren't playing bad, but there is a gulf in quality with the defensive lines. Ours just look like they are running in molasses and our midfield is not tracking runs after turnovers. Japan's press is really good, but the scoreline flatters them a bit given the deflected goal and own goal plus a missed pen.

Interesting to see Japan in their current state they seem absolutely peaking lately have they made some significant investments into some areas like academy/structure in recent years ?
Player wise they’ve had a lot of good quality before aswell with sakai/nagatomo/hasebe/okazaki/honda it’s pretty impressive they’ve managed to build even further on a team that had those players around
