The ball basically goes through Maguire. For Rice to intercept that pass he'd have ot basically run back into CB area which is not his position. and then maybe another time he's leaving a hell of a lot of space open in the box.
I don't think it's really Maguire's fault either. He challenged his man and he didn't score.
There are plenty of things players could have done to prevent this goal. but they're hte kind of things that are bad decisions if you can't see into the future.
