I don't really get the point of combining Post-Shot xG with Save % when the former was meant to be a better indicator of good goalkeeping than the latter.

I agree, maybe it tells you something about players in the same spot on PSxG but I'm not even sure what.

Like does this tell us that Allison is performing better than Neto?

I agree, maybe it tells you something about players in the same spot on PSxG but I'm not even sure what.

It tells you about the quality of shots the keepers face—which tells you more about the style/quality of the defense in front of the keeper than anything else TBH

This doesn’t even do that very well because it’s volume based, and not every goalie will be facing nearly as much XG as some others.

Like Ederson/Alisson/Ramsdale etc are gonna have a lot less chances to make positive saves in this than a Nero etc who’s under constant attack

The first is a volume stat and the second is a per shot stat. Maybe post shot xG per shot would be better instead of save %.

Martinez has been good this season. Last season was a dip from his first one - long may it continue.

Same with Sa I believe. Him and Martinez had some of the biggest drop offs last season from the season before, but they look like they’re back in form. At least statistically

If he keeps this up, I'll have to turn in weekly apology cards for doubting him in the summer

Remember Edouard Mendy's first season at Chelsea? Let's not get ahead of ourselves.

He was best keeper in seire A last season.

His saves against roma were some of the best i have ever seen.

He was best keeper in seire A last season.

Imo provedel was better overall, but Vicario was absolutely elite anyways

I don't wanna say useless, it's useful for understanding performance in these (Max) 9 games, but it's 9 games. Wouldn't be making too many conclusions.

Didn't Trafford get alot of MOTD goal of the month nominations with him in goal?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Yeah we've conceded quite a few worldies, but that tends to happen in the Premier League when you give quality players all the time in the world on the edge of your own box.

Data source?

Not doubting the data, i just want to look at other stats.

I’m guessing the small sample size is what’s negatively affecting Ramsdale here? What are his stats for the last season?

Raya is making mistakes too. Different mistakes from Ramsdale. But, mistakes none the less.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Incredibly small sample size to make much of a judgement about a keeper. A full season isn't necessarily a lot either, you can basically get through one in an extended purple patch / cold streak. Eg Emi Martinez's 21/22 season is a massive outlier in his past 6 years.

Wtf is that X-axis stat?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Is this for week 9 only? Ortega’s only played one game week lol.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

and people wondering why ramsdale is on the bench

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Ramsdale really got shafted in that Fulham game. I wouldn't say any of those goals were his fault but it still shows up as -1.5
