Phillip Lindsay had that incredible rookie season where he went undrafted to the Pro Bowl, a decent second season and the just sort of disappeared after that. I think he’s been bouncing around between the CFL and arena league the last few years.

Whatever happened to JR?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (5 children)

Will Fuller V disappeared really quickly after leaving the Texans. Surprised me since I thought of him as a solid WR2, high end WR3 even with the injury issues.

The most recent superstar that comes to mind is Gurly. He was an absolute beast for the Rams, helped make them a contender, and after some reports of arthritis he became a complete non-factor. I know he went to the Falcons for a little but it was one of the quickest declines I’ve ever seen.

Saints folks - what happened to Jairus Byrd? He was an absolute monster for us. His 2009 season was one of the best Bills rookie seasons ever, plus he made three pro bowls and an AP All-Pro second team spot. Then he left for New Orleans in 2013 and I really didn't hear much of him after that.

Michael Clayton had one of the best rookie WR years ever at the time and then just completely fell off.

80 catches for 1193 yards and 7 TD’s his rookie season.

His career totals were 223 catches for 2955 yards and 10 TD’s.

He fell off pretty hard.

LaMont Jordan.

I thought that dude was going to be a stud for the Raiders for sure. He had a pretty good year, then he got injured, and that was that.

Kenny Golladay

Earl Thomas basically vanished into thin air after the Ravens cut him. The most recent news about him was yesterday when apparently his ex-wife’s BF stole money from him.

Doug Baldwin. Felt like he just kinda disappeared. Then it turns out he had like a career ending injury. Felt like it was barely covered.

Other than Justin Herbert, it seems like every stud out of Oregon was a bust.

I wonder what happened to “the law firm” (Ben Jarvis green Ellis). He didn’t fumble and ran well and suddenly… was gone.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Not big, but I often wonder about Dorial Green-Beckham

Victor Cruz was a thing for like two seasons and poof he was gone.

Jeremy Shockey was like a rockstar on the Giants and once they traded him it was like he went into witness protection.

Matt Flynn was a backup who signed a big contract with Seattle after one fluke 500yd passing game for Green Bay. He lost the starting job to rookie Russell Wilson and just bounced around after.

Matt Jones

6'6" WR ran a 4.37, released because of substance abuse issues then never played again

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

BJ Raji, said he was going to take some time off and then just vanished

Some of these answers are like “Whatever happened to Tom Brady?”

Justin Blackmon

Chris Johnson honestly. His first and second year with Tennessee was unlike anything I’ve ever seen before. It felt like every touch had the potential to be a touchdown. But he held out after his second year and dropped off after he got paid. Not saying he checked out, the offensive line he had in 2009 was the best in the league. He also had an insane workload. But he never came close to matching his stats from that brief time.

I think about this whenever I think of early picks of the Lions. Like wtf happened to them? What is Nick Fairley, Titus Young, Mikel Leshoure, Ryan Broyles, Ziggy Ansah, Eric Ebron, Jarrad Davis, Teez Tabor, Jahlani Tavai, pretty soon Jeff Okudah, Louis Delmas, Gosder Cherilus, Kevin Smith, Cliff Avril, Ernie sims, Roy Williams, Kevin Jones, Aaron Gibson doing now?

Shit the list just goes on forever

Am i the only one who felt like Michael Turner just dissappeared from the Falcons? Like I never remember hearing him retire.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Taysom Hill every season lol. But more seriously James Robinson/Philip Lindsay were the guys for two seasons and now they can’t make a roster? UDFA life is brutal.

Peyton hillis

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

If this question was asked prior to yesterday. I would have said Martavius Bryant. The tandem of him and AB with Le'Veon, Heath and Big Ben along with the Steelers defense, they would've had another SB run.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Only Steelers fans will remember but Barry Foster came second in mvp voting one year

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Jamaal Charles was insane and then was gone

James Robinson. Great rookie season, solid second season, then got replaced by etn and vanished overnight

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Vic Beasley. Lead the league in sacks, then gets hurt the next year and relegated to the XFL like 2 years after that.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I was legitimately wondering what Josh Gordon was up to these days, earlier in the season.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Natrone Means.

He had a decent-ish length career by running back standards but just one super notable season.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Remember 99.9% David Wilson for the Giants? He was hyped up to be a pretty high pick his 2nd season (RB16/28th overall from fantasy pros). He had fumbling issues right away and then got a season ending neck injury from my memory and had to retire.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Christine Michael. I know he never had great career numbers but the way he could go from 0 to 60 instantly was incredible. I remember a game when the Hawks played the 49ers back in 2016 and guys would reach out for him then turn around in shock as he was already 5 yards behind them. Surprised his career never worked out.
