Should the salary cap be split between offense and defense? (alien.top)

Just thinking out loud about the salary cap. I love salary capped leagues, makes things much more interesting. But I wonder if it would be better if the cap should be split (not necessarily 50/50) between offense and defense.

What issue does this solve? Teams can already do this if they want. There’s 11 players on defense and 11 on offense, I’d be mad if I was on defense and my half of the team only got 35% of the total pie. It’s putting a cap on what players can earn on the defensive side if it’s not 50/50. Lastly… do special teams players play for free? Lol
