This doesn't include post season stats either.

Luck was sacked 11 times in his whole playoff career (8 games), Burrow has been sacked 29 times in the playoffs (7 games)

I don't watch much Bengals, but isn't that offense a lot of go routes and 4 WR sets? I imagine he holds onto the ball longer based on scheme alone.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

That's... uhhhhh... thats a lot

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Luck also ran with wreckless abandon and sought out contact with defenders...but yeah this doesn't look great for Burrow.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I'm not educated on football enough to know this but I've heard some people say sacks are predominantly a QB stat. How true is that really?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Didn't they choose Chase over an Offensive line player because burrows wanted Chase? Not saying it was a bad idea but this could've changed a lot for Burrows

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I’m thankful they didn’t take Penei Sewell, and I understand Chase is legendary, but man Sewell certainly would have taken a lot of sacks of Burrow’s face.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Is it just the o-line or is he taking too long with his reads? Long developing wr play calling?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I said it during his Rookie fucking year. Cinci is going to make his life hell.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Getting sacked in football 8-10 years ago is a lot worse than sacks today. Back then quarterbacks got lit up, now tapping them on the helmet is a flag

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Alright then

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Shows you that obj is definitely not worth the 25 mil he wanted

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

What is this supposed to tell me?

Burrow needs to get the ball out quicker?

Bengals need better OL?

Too many deep routes, need more short passes?

All of this is up to the Bengals.

And Burrow is the HIGHEST PAID QB in the NFL, so kinda hard to build around that from and OL perspective

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Our OL was bad but another reason Luck kept getting hurt was because he played like Josh Allen and Cam Newton at times. Issue was while he wasn't small he wasn't as big as either of them and he took a ton of hard hits.

Won us a lot of games but the regular sacks plus those killed him

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Deshaun was sacked 174 times in his first 54 games. Just to add another number for the comparison and to show Luck's sack numbers weren't the worst.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

There is a significantly higher focus on pass rush now than when Luck played.

I assume most QB’s are probably sacked around the rate Andrew luck was in today’s NFL. 2 sacks a game seems pretty standard.

Holy shit, if you read between the lines into this really closely, it basically says that Joe Burrow was sacked more times in fewer games than Andrew Luck.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Why don't he just choose to not get sack?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

MF would be the best QB in the NFL, but his line cosplays as Swiss cheese every weekend.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

David carr was sacked 208 in 60 games. Only missed 4. I like burrow but his ownership refuses to let him heal.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Sounds like this Burrow guy needs a better offensive line, otherwise he might retire early

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I’ve been sacked 500+ times in apex

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Volson looks terrible. He was getting ejected into burrow at times.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

They need to run the ball more and compliment the offense with passing yards. Pass happy league

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Dang, this reminds me of the Sewell vs Chase debate.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago
[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

How many are from the Browns?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Burrow does have to deal with both TJ Watt and Myles Garrett each twice every year not counting the playoffs … that’s going to up those sack numbers.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Levis: i'll catch you guys by the end of the year!!!!

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Well my post got removed so I’ll spill the beans here. Have it on strong authority from within the medical community here that he tore his scapholunate ligament which is the main ligament between the hand and wrist used to put snap on the ball and it’s nearly impossible to repair to 100% strength.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

People also need to realize how damn good Andrew Luck really was. Statistically, with a much worse team than Allen, Hurts, Burrow, and Mahomes, he was lighting it up. Dude had was throwing piss missiles 600+ times a year for half his career. That is nuts. That puts A LOT of pressure on your QB when they are having to drop back 37+ times on average every damn game. He averaged 4.5 more throws a game than Burrow (roughly 11% more throws). He averaged 5 more throws a game than Allen. He averaged .5 more throws a game than Mahomes. He had much worse teams than the three guys I just mentioned, and he was expected to still throw that much to keep the Colts competitive. That's just wild. Also, it is worth noting that Burrow was on pace to be sacked damn near as much as he was in the 2019 season (with the same amount of dropbacks). I would argue their additions and changes to the offensive line have done NOTHING. Brown is just stealing money from them lmao. He also had less pocket time this year than any other year in his career. Some of that is offensive like play and some of that is Burrow getting rid of the ball quicker. Regardless how you want to view that, it still looks even worse for his o-line. Either they are worse than his 2019 offensive line OR Burrow is getting rid of the ball much quicker on his own and is still getting sacked at a damn near equal rate. He was also being blitzed at a much higher rate this year, which seemed to be working for the most part. He will probably be facing another blitz heavy season next year.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Well at least now he can let the calf heal.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Does Joe like to read?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

The Bengals may not have made it to the Super Bowl if they drafted Penei Sewell over Ja’Marr Chase, but they would have been in a much better spot now. All the draft picks and free agent money they’ve spent on the offensive line has not worked. It would be hard to find another 1,000 yard receiver, but that is far more replaceable than a great offensive lineman.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

So you are saying trade him away in dynasty

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Thank god Joe got his bag. Might not get another.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Luck was hit 352 times in the first 3 years of his career alone (per the ringer). Burrow/ been hit 178 times so far in his career. Easy to cherry pick stats

As great as Ja'Marr Chase is, not choosing Penei Sewell after Burrow knee got annihilated as a result of a poor OLine is probably going to haunt the Bengals for some time.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Man I loved Andrew. Just saying.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Revisionist history. But until Burrow was drafted. Bengals o line was consistently talked about being bottom 5 year over year. Burrow just hid that shit better than Dalton. (Not really, 2 season ending injuries in 4 years get fucked).

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

So you're saying that's it for Burrow? Retirement. He had a good run.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Then there’s also the CRAZY idea that instead of making a gazillion dollars and being unable to walk at 35, QBs could settle for half a gazillion and the team could spend the money on All-Pro linemen.

Who was that guy for the Patriots a while back? I think it worked out okay for him…

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

How many of those were Watt and Garrett 2x a year?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Bengals haven't learned a thing from the Colts.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

This is what makes a QB injury prone. Too much early exposure to bad injuries and body never heals. The mind is also so broken and the will is shattered. If Burrows makes it to 32 that would be amazing. Depends if his body can hold on.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Burrow at this rate is going to make a run at Fran Tarkington's all time sacked record of 570. Likely though Russell Wilson will get there first. He currently has 512 with 30 so far this year.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

So many times it seems like when the QB's get their big contract, they start getting the crap beat out of themselves on the field. Guess it becomes harder to pay for quality lineman...

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Luck was a better QB than all other QBs today. To bad he was drafted by the Colts.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Those responsible for sacking the people who have just been sacked have been sacked.
