I have an Asus RT-AC88U with a RT-AC66U as an AI-Mesh node, servicing a~1200 sq. ft. place. My WAN comes from a cable modem, with a 5G router as backup (the WiFi radios are turned off).

On a regular basis I have around 65 devices connected, with a bunch of IoT over wifi. Recently I started to add Thread devices, and that's when I started to see some network instability, namely, random disconnections from both the 2.4 and 5 GHz networks.

Is there a way for me to troubleshoot these issues? Am I overloading my router? If so, what is a good recommendation for a replacement?

So you could backhaul them together and save space on the 5G band for the devices or if cable isn't possible then a Tri band mesh will do the trick.
