Creating a unique blend of genre has made for some interesting games in the past. In fact, many indie games have the ability to take some risks, experimenting with concepts that try and push the mold a little and we have seen many such titles over the years see quite a lot of success. This is especially true when a developer tries to blend horror into a different package than expected and Stately Snail has tried just that with Is This Game Trying to Kill Me?. With Sometimes You bringing the indie game that blends horror and unique reality bending puzzles all centered around an ancient computer game, does it make for a spooky brain scratcher that is just as ready to punish players with death as it is with advancing further into its unknown depths?

Bishoujo Super Street Fighter II: Glamor Queen is a combo ROM Hack of the Sega Mega Drive version of Super Street Fighter II, where some of the characters are replaced with characters from various fanchises. It draws some inspiration from several bootleg versions of Champion Edition, as well as other Street Fighter II ROM Hacks such as Street Fighter II: Mix and Super Street Fighter II Turbo: New Legacy.

Stef’s PCM Driver Fix and Pyron’s Color Hack were used as a base.

The following characters are replaced:

Blanka is replaced with Roll, from Mega Man.
Dhalsim is replaced with Mai Shiranui, from Fatal Fury and King of Fighters.
E. Honda is replaced with Choi Jadoo, from Hello Jadoo.
Fei Long is replaced with Emily, from Unholy Night: The Darkness Hunter.
Dee Jay is replaced with Madonna de Swan, from Makeruna! Makendou 2.
Boxer is replaced with Avra Yumeno, an original creation, and Belva Lina, another original creation.

Features

The Game Speed defaults to 3 stars, like in console versions of Street Fighter II’ Turbo: Hyper Fighting, and Super Street Fighter II Turbo.

Some character sprites that were missing are inserted, such as stance sprites for Shotos, Sagat and Cammy.

Air Specials
Charge Times are disabled (except for Turn Around Punches, which charge way faster).
Characters can be juggled. Once a juggle quota is reached, they fall down faster.
Characters can back dash. Emily and Madonna can also forward dash. Emily can air dash.
Wakeup can be delayed like in Ultra Street Fighter IV, by holding at least 2 Kick buttons.
A few moves’ commands are changed to be easier to use, such as Sagat’s Tiger Knee and Cammy’s Spinning Back Fist.
Character Endings can be accessed on any difficulty.
A lot of PCM samples, such as Guile’s Sonic Boom voice clip are changed.
Most of the music have different pitches, tempos and use different YM2612 instruments.
All Arcade Ladder Arrangements are changed.
A few aspects were made more Arcade accurate, such as Dictator’s suplex reaction.
Health persists between Elimination matches in Group Battle Mode.
In Arcade Mode, stages can be chosen by the players in 2-player matches with the Mode button.
The computer can control a player in Group Battle Mode by holding the Mode button.
The Debug Menu can be accessed by holding A or Mode, and selecting Options.

In Versus Mode, directions can be locked by holding the Mode button, any direction then releasing the Mode button. Lifebars can be refilled with both Players’ Mode buttons.

Challenge Modes can be played in faster speeds.

New moves, such as Zangief’s Coconut Thunder and Sagat’s Tiger Dive.
Extra colors can be chosen by holding the Mode button in Arcade, Versus and Challenge Modes. If the Mode button is held when starting Group or Tournament Modes, the extra pack of colors are used.

In Arcade Mode, the player can switch to either the previous character defeated (Down+A+B+C), or to the character that they’re up against (Up+A+B+C), a la Vampire Savior 1 and 2. This allows for “relay” playthroughs, or playthroughs that use multiple characters where a player can switch to a character that they recently defeated.

As the name suggests, it's inspired by the movie TRON. Or more exactly, by all the games that where inspired by the movie TRON.

You steer a futuristic bike, called lightcycle. Combat takes place in a rectangular arena. Your bike leaves a trail behind, which is like a wall. The goal is to force the other players to drive into a wall. The winner is the last player alive.

History of Colossal Cave Adventure

Advent

In 1975 and 1976, programmer at Bolt Beranek and Newman in Boston, William Crowther wrote the first computer text adventure game, Adventure. The original name for the game was just ADVENT later renamed Colossal Cave adventure. It was based on Crowther's maps and experiences caving in Mammoth Cave in Kentucky, the longest cave system in the world; further, it was intended, in part, to be accessible to non-technical players, such as his two daughters.

The game is composed of dozens of locations, and the player moves between these locations and interacts with objects in them by typing one- or two-word commands that are interpreted by the game's natural language input system.

The program acts as a narrator, describing the player's location and the results of the player's attempted actions. The first well-known adventure game, for which it was also the namesake.

The game was about 700 lines of code, plus another 700 lines of data such as descriptions for 66 rooms, navigational messages, 193 vocabulary words, and miscellaneous messages.

In 1977, Don Woods working at Stanford University's Stanford Artificial Intelligence Lab expanded the game in size and increased the number of fantasy elements present in it, such as a dragon and magic spells. He changed the puzzles, adding new elements and complexities, and added new puzzles and features such as a pirate that roams the map and steals treasure from the player or objects that could exist in multiple states. He also introduced a scoring system within the game and added ten more treasures to collect in addition to the five in Crowther's original version.

Woods's game had approximately 3,000 lines of code and 1,800 lines of data, growing to 140 map locations, 293 vocabulary words, and 53 objects.

Map - Beware the Ubiquitous Dwarves!

Crowther did not distribute the source code to his version to anyone else, and it was later believed to be lost until it was rediscovered on an archive of Woods's student account at the Stanford Artificial Intelligence Laboratory in 2005. Woods, however, distributed the code to his version alongside the compiled executable. Woods's 1977 version became the more recognizable and widespread version of Colossal Cave Adventure, in part due to its wider code availability, as it led to several other variants of the game being produced.

Advenure on a Terminal

It directly inspired the creation of numerous games, including Zork (1977), Adventureland (1978), Mystery House (1980), Rogue (1980), and Adventure (1980), which went on to be the foundations of the interactive fiction, adventure, roguelike, and action-adventure genres. It also influenced the creation of the MUD and computer role-playing game genres. It has been noted as one of the most influential video games, and in 2019 was inducted into the World Video Game Hall of Fame by The Strong and the International Center for the History of Electronic Games.

In 2017, Eric S. Raymond created a port for modern computers of Woods's 1995 version of the game as Open Adventure and released the source code under an open-source license with permission from Crowther and Woods.

A 3D remake of thegame, under the title Colossal Cave, was released by Cygnus Entertainment as its first title in on January 19, 2023, for Windows, macOS, Linux, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Meta Quest 2. Designed by Ken and Roberta Williams, co-founders of Sierra Entertainment, the game was started as a hobby project by the pair during the COVID-19 pandemic, before being expanded into a full commercial product by a team of thirty.
