Software developers count from 0, so I get the name.
But the medieval monk that created the AD/BC date system did so before the concept of 0 arrived in Europe from India. So there isn't a 0 A.D. literally, the date went from 31st December, 1.B.C to 1st Jan 1 A.D. It really complicates date calculations over this period.
And don't get me started about the fact King Herod died in 4BC, so (for the killing of the innocents story to be true) Jesus had to be born at least 4 years Before Christ. Gah!
Yeah that is true, there is no year 0, I think they chose that year on purpose as joke because they know there is not year 0 and because as you said software developers count from 0.
