This is just a community meant for migrators of Reddit to come on over. I have no idea how to mod and get things going, but it would be cool if someone with some knowledge could set up an RSS-Feed or something to get some automated deals posted!

Pros:

  • $369.99 CAD before taxes and shipping. (comes out to $0.020555/1GB)
  • CMR drive instead of SMR
  • 5 year warranty from Toshiba
  • 512 MB buffer cache

Currently (as of Dec 19, 2024) this is the cheapest 3.5" hard drive that's best for value.

The next closest in terms of value would be either the 8TB Seagate Barracuda Compute, or the 16TB Toshiba N300 Pro depending on your preference of same Price/GB with lower capital costs, or higher likelihood of availability for additional purchases >1.

The 12TB Seagate IronWolf is disqualified for this value based discussion as it's sold by Amazon's Refurb site from a 3rd party with an additional $107.99 for delivery charges.

27 inch 1080p - (orig. 199.99) $127.99 + $3 EHD + tax

Not bad price for these. Valid until 12 Dec 2024.

If you're currently considering on buying a new Graphics Card (GPU) for your computer it's advised to hold for now as:

We strongly believe you should not buy a graphics card right now. This is because we're expecting the announcement of next gen GPUs in the first week of January 2025. This is when the consumer electronics show takes place in Las Vegas and during the show we expect NVIDIA to announce the Geforce RTX 50 series and AMD to announce RDNA 4 based GPUs. New graphics cards means the potential for new levels of performance at existing price points..and for improvements in price to performance at the very least and that could be anything from a minor gain to a modest gain based on the last couple of generations.

Again what this means is that customers who hold off on buying are more likely to have a larger window for better deals as the flood of newer GPUs should push the price of previous gen cards somewhat lower than the newest ones on the market.

Tim from Hardware Unboxed (in the primary vid I linked) does a great and thorough breakdown🤌 on the current price to performance comparisons that I would highly recommend watching whenever you get the chance to do so!~🫡

If you're new to buying PC components please be advised in that I would highly recommend watching some GPU performance comparisons (such as GN's 7900 GRE review and comparisons) as otherwise you might accidentally buy a new GPU but with the performance of the previous series for a higher cost :/

While this isn't a sale I wanted to share this vid here as the Lancool 217 is currently the top competitor for both thermals and price!

Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP):

  • $80 USD / ~$110 CAD (Before shipping and tax)
(the 110 is an approximate as the import/duty fees will create a price difference)

American Listings

Edit:

  • Oct 24, 2024 - added lowest prices to both case options.
  • Nov 3, 2024 - revised lowest prices for both cases.
  • Nov 27, 2024 - Retroactively replaced the original youtube link to an Invidious one. And updated the current lowest prices.

I haven't bought from Amazon in several years, but I made an exception for this deal. I've never seen this go below $80 before.
