On Etsy, I was asking questions to some psychic named GypsyyyTarot, and I posted a neutral, slightly negative review after a reading. He or she told me my error in how I read a disclaimer, and told me to go fix my review, so it was completely positive, then said "Sadly I'm not going to be able to do this order for you as now I'm unable to trust this client relationship any longer. You'll be refunded at the end of the day. Thank you and be blessed." in response to an order I made for asking about the disclaimer, which I didn't need.

Some people don't take criticism well.

To stop this from happening again, I might talk to the seller before I leave a bad review and make sure they won't ban me if I need to make a negative review.

I wanted to leave a note about this on Etsy, then realized I could leave it elsewhere, Reddit maybe.

I recently realized I was very much sick and tired of Reddit. It has simply become incredibly unfun to me, and as such I have elected to seek out a suitable alternative, and this one seems quite sufficient. I look forward to getting to know you all.

I tried writing a post explaining why, but it's just too much, and too many personal details and having to explain things going years back, it's just to much.
Very very long story short I'm disabled, about to get evicted, and can't find a suitable place to live and not mentally strong enough to live somewhere unsuitable again becuse it almost killed me the last times I had to. But ike I say, there is a lot more to it that makes it too big a mess to explain.

And I only have a couple of people supporting me and they're not available and I'm spiralling in to the dark places where this is all heading, and I figured I'd shout in to the void and see if anyone answers back.

I've been thinking a great deal on systems that would help enable direct democracy, something I feel is vital in our increasingly centralized and polarized political world. In my eyes, votes are the eyes of the country - they are the best way for a governmental system to understand the needs of its populace.

A lot of that has gotten lost in our representative republics, none of which are true democracies, which in the past have been too unwieldy to implement after the population reaches a certain point.

However, now we have the technology to enable direct democracy, pretty easily too. If we had a politician with the will and the right system to implement it, I could see it being revolutionary if it were copied on a wider scale.

Some caveats

  1. The voting system is secure and only open to the politician's constituents

  2. The voting system allows commentary with your vote

  3. Votes are held for every piece of legislation

  4. There would be a submission form for constituents to directly submit proposed legislation for review by the politician

  5. Proposed legislation is published well ahead of the vote

  6. The system provides an auditable paper trail, but personal anonymity in the detail of the results

Would love to get other folks opinions on this, both from a technical and political perspective.

And like there's this person that you were, and this person that you are going to be, and the person you are now doesn't know how much you need to get rid of past you to make room for future you. And you feel overwhelmed in this decision and become paralyzed, not actually moving forward with the conscious decisions of what to let go, and things start to fall away but you don't know if those are the right things.

I've just feeling like that for a while. I know there are things I need to let go of, but when I try to do it, it causes me great anxiety and I stop. I'm just wondering if anyone else ever feels the same.

Thanks for listening.

It's actually 57 years if you start the counting from when he got the hat in The Last Crusade's prologue in 1912 to the newest one that takes place in 1969, and 34 years if you start counting from the first chronological movie, The Temple of Doom that took place in 1935.

Anyway, I made the realization that it's a bit ridiculous and made me curious if anyone knows good stories about people who've been using the same get-up for a long, long time in real life.

Okay so I like watches, but also I'm poor so I have to be pretty sparing with what I buy.

Right now I'm rocking a Timex Weekender with a pride themed NATO strap. I call it my summer watch.

What about you?

I'd been raised to avoid things that weren't fine with my parents, but lately, I'd been trying to see the other sides through their writing (blog, novel, review, discussion, etc) and I regretted not doing it sooner. A lot of the things there would've helped me to become what I want to be.

Everyone has some preferred environment that helps them relax. For example, you may like a walk through a forest on a sunny day, a hot bath or shower, watching a movie in the middle of the night with friends, reading a book by the window during light rain, etc. What do you like the most?

Mine would probably be - A smorgasbord of a Cacio e Pepe, Greek marinated octopus, various temaki, cold smoked salmon with poached eggs on top of a perfect baguette, vegetable tempura, chocolate lava cake, and crème brulee.

At 32 I'm fitter than I've ever been before.

The topic of conversation is general, friendly civil discussion. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. If you're unfamiliar with Matrix- the process of joining is fairly simple. Follow the prompts on the invite link below and create an account/join.

Element seems to be the main software to access Matrix chats at this point in time. It's available on desktop through your browser or in a native client if you want to download it. If you're on mobile you may need to check out the Element app. Look forward to seeing you there!

Please keep in mind that this is a brand new chat so it likely will be moderately paced for the moment but it would still be awesome if you stick around.

Why not go with/add a Discord?
For the moment our community is still growing and I have no intention of splitting what will be a modestly paced chat into two. Matrix does well to fit the federated ethos here, so I have decided to go with it for now. If you've never used Matrix, give it a try- I hadn't either before creating this chat.

There's a lot of noise with this one. Among the noisiest we've seen. Please know that our teams are on it, and like all blowups on Reddit, this one will pass as well. The most important things we can do right now are stay focused, adapt to challenges, and keep moving forward. We absolutely must ship what we said we would.

This was a few days back, but I think it's important to bring up for the moment. This is just completely convincing me that those running Reddit are entirely out of touch with their moderators and the well-being of their users. Does this make you want to leave or just rub you the wrong way? Have you already left for good or are you still open to using the platform now that more subreddits are reopening?

I've personally deleted the Reddit related apps off my phone and replaced them with the webapp for Kbin for now by adding the site to my home screen, until an app is developed and released.

I've heard other people talk about falling down Reddit holes over the years, but I was never this engaged on Reddit. I posted maybe a handful of times. I'd usually browse r/popular/top set to desktop version in Firefox on mobile without logging in. Here, though, I'm literally losing sleep and hours pass because the energy, the immediateness, the sense of joyous participation are all so intoxicating. Is this how you're experiencing this? I want to know.

I'm entering my late 30s, and my body isn't taking care of me because I have not taken care of it for most of its adult life.

I went rollerskating on a local trail/walking path. Skating is much more fun than running; I absolutely hate running when it's not to save my own life. It was not very smooth, so it was particularly difficult. It was pretty though, and I feel great now. I went 3 miles in all. I had fun, 8/10, would do again, but on a smoother path next time.

Lately (past 3ish years) I have been struggling with finding the motivation to do the simplest of tasks, but my partner went to work and I was bored. I figured, "why the hell not?" baby steps.

Any advice and/or stories from early parenthood anyone wants to share would be appreciated!

Edit: just wanted to say I'm reading all the comments and appreciate everyone. The newborn is keeping me busy!

I originally had signed up for a few social media platforms in their early days but over time I felt that I wasn't seeing what I thought I wanted to see. As companies started tailoring their algorithms things started to get less relevant to my interests. As a result I left behind those platforms for a couple of years before discovering Mastodon instances.

It was basically everything I thought social media should be, I would again get updates from people I followed and in a chronological order without a mess of advertisements. There was no push to show me content I hadn't even asked to see, so that was really refreshing. I only recently realized that federated content platforms and their protocols were so versatile, given what we're on now feels very different from Mastodon. I can't help it but I am more than a bit excited about the potential!

What's your story? Do you use anything that could be considered social media or have you in the past?

I was sooo worried I wasn't going to make it with my rushed final essay but I did it with a 75% mark! Maybe my course staff are just forgiving? I read the feedback and there were a lot of good points where I could have changed or expanded upon things...It doesn't matter now because I'm graduating in a month. IT'S HAPPENING! I took way too long getting my degree but I finally did it.

I dread what comes after and how I can make a living with my fancy bit of paper but at least I can say I did it.

I had to say something since I just got my mark back.

Now I'm here, doing the same thing! What foods did y'all grow to love over time?

The world can be a pretty strange place, but it's good to look back and find at least one thing that was good to you today. Be that a nice conversation, a cool picture you saw, a song you heard... whatever! But if you didn't find anything good today, here's your sign: go do one thing for you, right now. Even if its just a moment of peace, take it and make it your good thing for the day.
