I was thinking about how I could potentially identify coins that could moon in the near future or that currently are mooning, and I came up with an idea. I would like to hear your thoughts on it.

If I was to use software to scan all social media platforms for mentions of keywords over a period of time (last 24 hours, last week, last month etc), with those keywords being the names of every coin currently available for purchase at the time of the scan, and then I looked at how many times each coin was mentioned, and then looked to see if there was a substantial increase in mentions of that coin from when the last scan was made, would that be an indication that there could be a big move about to happen with that coin?

Interesting email arrived today. There's another thread in r/Bitcoin where people are surmising this has gone out to all Poloniex US accounts, not just "whale-ish" accounts. In any case, Poloniex trading history for all older accounts (ie before the Poloniex spinout and PoloUS shutdown) is now unavailable to retrieve, so that's rough.

On April 9, 2021, the Internal Revenue Service (“IRS”) issued a summons, pursuant to a court order, demanding that Circle Internet Financial, LLC f/k/a Circle Internet Financial, Inc. (“Circle”) and affiliates, produce records relating only to U.S. taxpayers that engaged in the trading of digital assets with at least $20K in value of transactions in any one year between 2016 through 2020. Notice of the court order authorizing service of the summons on Circle which the Department of Justice made public on or about April 1, 2021, can be found here. We are writing to inform you that we are complying with this summons which requires us to produce information specific to your account.

If you have any concerns about this, we encourage you to seek legal advice from an attorney.

We also want to highlight that because the IRS served the summons to Circle on April 9, 2021, and our response to the summons has not been fully resolved after more than six months, it is our understanding that the periods of limitations under 26 U.S.C. §§ 6501 (relating to assessment and collection) and 6531 (relating to criminal prosecution) were suspended as of October 9, 2021, and will continue until Circle’s response to the summons is fully resolved. This may be relevant to the tax returns that you have filed for the 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020 calendar years. If you have questions about your tax liability for those years, we encourage you to consult with your tax advisor.

Regards,

Team Circle

Youtube has been pushing a scam deep fake add for over a month to "All Ripple Holders" to Double their XRP by - sending XRP to an address and getting back double. This is obviously a scam, but when reported to Youtube they responded "this video does not violate Google's policies".

I know it’s not a huge increase, but I was looking through my coins earlier and was a little bit in the red, but then came back around 20 minutes ago, and the price had nearly doubled since then. I know prices can fluctuate wildly, but usually there is some sort of reason behind it. I’m not well versed in crypto, but I do dabble in it from time to time. I’m not nearly crypto-technically inclined enough to do technical analysis, tracking of whales, big moves, and such, so I’m pretty blind to a lot of things that run in the background. I looked about for any news, but only got results for price charts, nothing of substantial substance.

Is there something I’m missing or is just a crypto mystery and just a random occurrence?

Thank you to anyone willing to answer of who might have some info.

Hi, I have a noob question I'd like to ask. If I send crypto to another blockchain (let's say I send 1 BTC to my ETH wallet), the 1 BTC sent will be lost, ok. But what actually happens to this 1 BTC ? Does it get stuck somewhere in the big decentralized cloud of blockchains, waiting to be eventually retrieved by someone smart enough to build a tool that could retrieve it one day ? Or is the 1 BTC simply forever gone, nowhere to be found, and so there is 1 BTC missing in the total marketcap ? Thank you

OK guys I need some help understanding things.

Many people post about getting 'hot wallets drained' , losing all their crypto (sorry for your loss if you have).

I understand the difference between a cex, dex, hot wallet and hardware wallet but want to understand how peope get their hot wallets drained.

I've heard about Shady dapps and signatures. If you could explain to me how one gets their hot wallets (which should never be used as long term storage) drained?

Kind regards, CryptokidUKslimmy Cashup4thestreets

Took some time and looked around cex apy %, and got a Ust flashback when I saw Binance usdt %, for a long time I've thought 5% is good on fiat. 20% is Luna territory.

So what do Binance have at this moment? Nice 18%, I'm not gonna call anything, but this could be fun.

And the fun part is post earlier here said Binance is going to pay over $2bill....

I do hope Binance survives. The ripple effect if they go under could be bloody.

I know a large fraction of crypto users want to avoid regulators and regulation, but I wondered whether there are any compliant cryptocurrencies (or other tokenisations) around?

To clarify a bit: consider gold; although gold can be owned privately, there are still rules about not trading with proscribed entities, and tax implications. So a compliant token or currency would have to be one which supported KYC, AML etc.

If the thing being tokenised is a security (e.g. shares, debt, etc) then it would need to support the controls over who is allowed to trade them and be indentifiable for compliance with sales controls etc etc.

Finally, if the thing being tokenised represented a share in a fund (like an ETF share) then it would need to support or prescribe regulatory compliance with reporting etc.

Any ideas on whether such things have been built, either in their own chains or over main chains?
